Hello all. I am new to the forum. I just purchased a CM9 after doing extensive research and reading reviews. Upon receiving my new gun, I started the prep advice that was provided in this forum. Thanks for the great info. The inside of the slide rails had the corossion as well as the trigger where it meets the frame. I proceeded to take the slide off and clean and polish. Upon close inspection, I also noticed a bulge in the rear of the polymer frame at the back of the slide. HAVE ANY OTHER CM/PM OWNERS NOTICED THESE ISSUES? I shot 18 rounds through the gun and have been pleased with it so far. I just wanted to let others know in case they are noticing the same things. Overall, I am loving my new Kahr but I think that prep from the factory would include a little better lubrication to protect it from rust as well as a little tighter tolerance as far as the bulge on the polimer frame.

The frame imperfection at the back is quite common. Most ignore it; some take a nail file to it. The rust is an issue that you need to contact Kahr about. A polite email with pictures if possible and sent to the attention of Jay is the best way to get quick action. Plus, everything is in writing so nothing gets lost in the translation. It is often difficult and time consuming to get someone by phone.Very interesting...

To clarify what Jfootin said, the bulge is normal. It is not an imperfection and no need for any file work.
Unless the rust is very serious and actually pitted it can probably be cleaned up and lubed and go without notice. If it is serious by all mean follow Jfootings suggestion and send an email.
Are you certain it was rust?http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

Corrosion and rust? I doubt there was any of either. I have never seen corrosion and rust on a brand new stainless steel slide. I think it was part of the grease and lube that comes on a new gun. I have 2 Kars and have yet to see any signs of corrosion or rust after 1 year.Last edited by Ikeo74; 12-02-2012, 08:33 AM.

I helped my friend prep his new CW9 recently and it was packed in a bag with a lot of oil. But, the oil was a greasy brown color. Maybe some of that is still on the inside of the rails??
Did yours seem brand new? Was it in an oily plastic bag?
Or... there is a small amount of iron in stainless, so it can still lightly rust in certain situations. Like if it got wet and someone didn't field strip it and only dried the outside.

It came from the dealer in the Kahr Box with the foam packing. It was definately corossion and rust. Certainly not dripping with oil. I polished all the spots I could get to but there is still some rust under the trigger where it meets the frame. Here is a picture for the naysayer. Oops, guess not. The forum requires 30 posts for a new member before allowing attachments. I will call Kahr and let them know next week. I went out and had some fun today shooting it. I have had no issues through 100 rounds. What neat little 9mm. I will be shopping for some holsters and accessories now!

I seriously do doubt it was rust.
It was something else. I've carried my PM's in my jeans pocket... days on end in Florida without taking those jeans off... sweat, crud, rain, crud... more sweat... I'm talking a four or five days of constant on the Harley riding. Salt water on me, wet jeans with salt water... more sweat... never... ever... once.. had any signs of rust.
You've got dried up, crusted something...cleaner, old lube... just stuff... but I can almost guarantee, its not rust, because if Kahr's rusted, I'd know.

Man, I hope these boogers don't rust. I too live in Florida and had to trade in an LC9 I had had the slide nickeled and it still managed to rust. Took a 70% hit on the LC9. It ran well and felt good in the hand. I am hoping my CM9 is everything it was minus the rusting, lol. So far I really love the CM9, gonna go shoot it next weekend. I am hoping it runs well. I have been lazy about carrying of late and would really like to make this my primary carry.

Like my M&P that says it can still fire even with no magazine present? Engraved white letters on my black slide p*sses me off every time I see it.Originally posted by Engineer88 View PostOne other thing. I love that Kahr pistols don't have a paragraph of useless information written on them like: Read the manual before using, this is a device that emits a small projectile out the hole in the front...
That foolishness drives me nuts and makes a few of my handguns ugly. :-(
