  • 9mm self defense ammo

I have looked at diffenert self defense ammo and was wondering if any one has tried Corbon Pow'R ball 100gr +p ammo? My local gun shop also has Magtech JHP. Thanks

I use it as carry ammo. I like it a lot. It feels pretty snappy compared to 115gr range stuff. Feeds like a dream.

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

I just ran 300 rounds of 115g FMJ in a break in period with out a problem and before I buy Corbon if it was worth it or look for something else. I know its like Chevy and Ford but I'll take it for whats it worth and might try about any thing that I can find righ now...and again thanks for the help.

+1 on that. The technology and concept behind this round along with the videos that Ljutic (pocketgunsandgear)on this site have done have made me a believer.

                FWIW:
The improvement in 9mm ammo is greatly responsible for my being willing to compromise from my long-held adherence to the .45acp in order to enjoy the carry-ease of the new generation of small, single stack 9's that are available. My choice is the CM9. I carry Federal Premium HST 124gn. HP (P9HST1).
They have a good rep. for stopping bad guys when it counts. There are others to choose from, this one is my choice.

I guess the problem now is finding it and giving it a try...

The Speer Gold Dots are available in standard and +P... AND +P Short Barrel versions. The GDSB is only available in 20-round boxes at $1+ per bullet... or even $2+ depending on where you buy it. My LGS sells the 20-rd 124-gr GDSP +P for about $40 out the door after Tax! I buy it online for $20 to $22 a box. I recently bought... waiting on two more 10-box "cases" for $204.95 plus shipping each.
                        2 x 200rds - 9mm Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 124gr. +P HP Ammo $409.90 1 x 500rds - 40 S&W Remington Golden Saber Bonded 180gr. JHP Ammo $294.95
Sub-Total: $704.85 United Parcel Service Delivery (1 pkg) (UPS Ground): $33.57 Shipping Insurance: $4.55 Total: $742.97You can buy lesser amounts for sure, but the savings are in buying enough to lessen the cost per box in shipping. I looked for a long time and this is the second order from them with smaller amounts of this ammo bought at first.
Ammo to Go is behind in shipping, but says they have the stuff in stock... delays of 22 working days or more to ship! They take the money when you order it, too. It did take me about 3 weeks to get the first order from 19 Dec! I don't know when this will get here, though. Waiting until they run out of stock wouldn't be helpful, either. A lot of site have little or NO ammo.

I'm going to a gun show today. The prices there ought to be a HOOT!

Yesterday I went to the largest gun store here... Shooters... and they were out of "popular ammo" and rationing what they had. A .308 semi-auto that sold for $1,200 to $1,500 a few months ago were listed at $3,500... their cheapest in that category! Pistols were priced normally, but popular calibers in some... the G19 compensated I was considering... were out of stock.

Yes and if you are into researching alot before purchasing or trying, there are several places on youtube like tnoutdoors9 and pocketgunsandgear who do a long list of bullet reviews. Another member mentioned the zombie max and I carry that also in another caliber. Hornady makes several really good rounds in critical defense and critical duty. Have fun and let us know what you choose.

I buy SD ammo online (not much out there right now) in the 50 round LE boxes. Much cheaper (even with S&H when buying bulk) than the 20 round boxes. I stick with any of the following:
124 gr standard or +P Speer Gold Dot
                            124 gr standard or +P Federal HST's
124 gr standard or +P Winchester Ranger-T series.
                            They are all proven stoppers.

Ballistics by the Inch is a valuable resource, too:

                              http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/index.html

This is a great project and they tested a lot of ammo and shot some in real world pistols for comparison. They weren't trying to test ALL of the ammo in the world, though,... just too costly and time consuming.
