Fiber Front Sight On CM9

I am thinking about purchasing a fiber front sight on my CM9 (already has the crimson trace laser). I like the way the fiber sight looks and it is allot easier to pickup. Would you get recommend it? Also would you change out the rear sights too or just leave them stock?

leave the rear sight alone and the fiber sight is a real eye ball grabber. Unless ur using it for a hamamer, the fiber sight is very durable to.that would not be a deal break for me if I kwanted it. I have um on my G19 madeby Dawson and they are the best sights I have ever had. Personally allu need is the front sight, leave the rear alone, what u have is the right hight and does great. See the front sight clearly and ur good to go..

I have no idea, but you should make sure the front sight is the same height on the replacement, otherwise, replace the original ones with a matched set for that particular pistol. I've gotten guns with mismatched sights that shot so low you could not see what you were shooting at if you tried to compensate. Shooting low... 6 to 9 inches at 7 yards really sucks! I thought my 1911 was bad with 3 or so inches low at 7 yards. When I removed the front sight, it had HP stamped on the underside... HP?

Just because it fits in the hole/dovetail doesn't mean it will work with the rear sight... or a set will work on the wrong pistol!

I have the dawson front sight on mine What a difference it makes ordered right from dawson the front sight you want is DP 019056
that is .180 tall x.105 wide they give you the tool to pin it in and they also give you a couple of extra pieces of optic green and red about enough to do two replacements I got extra optic rods while I was ordering 6" pieces
the red 025-011, and the green was 025-012. I ended up using the red my eyes could pick it up better. As far as the rear sight goes never could get used to the bar sight so what I did was to remove the rear sight and with my dremel put two small dots on the sight and put it back in BE CARE FULL the rear sight only comes out in one direction,you may need to take it to a gun shop and let them press it out for you here's a link I did awhile ago the first picture shows the front sight and my flipped rear sight with dots

I saw your post before and thought it looked great. I also am nota fan of the rear post but I dont want to spend another 40.00 on a rear sit when I more than likely will not even see the rear sight if I ever had to use it.
My gunasmith said he will do the front sight for 40.00 for me.
Can you tell me which rear sight you orderd from Dawson too just in case I do get both. I still want more opinons on if I should do just the front or both. SO far I am leaning toward just the front.

if he is gonna charge u $40 to do the front sight, DO IT YOURSELF. It is a no brainer, my dog who is blind can do it..

Hey kflo01 what I said is I used the same rear sight just turned it 180 degrees it's free and you already have it. jocko is right don't spend $40 at the gun smith they give you the tool you need and good instructions, just remove the old front sight that is plastic easy to remove clean the holes out ,a little loctite use the tool to pin the new front sight in.Don't pay for something you can do

Thanks guys I guess I will order it and do it myself. I dont have loctite. Do I need it to do the install or can I get away without it? If they provide the tool and insturctions I will def give it a try myself.
As far as rostating the rear site. If the same tool that comes with the fiber site and do the rear I wil change that too if not just leave it the way it is.

Thanks for letting me know this is a job I can easily do myself. So no other special tools are needed?

You definitely need the Locktite! Otherwise, you will be shooting it one day and as you line up your next shot, you'll realize it's gone to parts unknown! I bought my custom mirror polished CM9 second hand. On the day of my training course for the NC CC permit, my front sight flew off while I was shooting at the range and could not be found. Maybe it wasn't Locktited when it was put back on after the polishing. I don't know. No biggie.

I replaced it with one of those Dawson FO front sights. And it is Locktited on there! I didn't get the rear sight because it was $50 more plus installation, though I still may do it because I like three dot sights.

been dreamin but I was under the impression that dwason sent some locktie with their sight. If not get a smalltube of blue locktite and ur good to go, or for thatmatter even th epruple locktie would work fine.

I have Dawson front and rear on my CM9. I did them myself, and like them. I did not like the post & dot that come with Kahr.

I don't think that you will have any problem changing the sight, based on the articles posted on this forum. I think you will like the fiber sights. I have never used the Dawson, but I have TruGlo tritium/fiber optic sights on my Sig P229 and they work great. I just have standard tritium night sights on all of my Kahrs.
