  • Are you an over buffer ?

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep at Kahr.
I asked him if the follower issue had been resolved and if I could be confident that if I were to buy a recently built gun, there would be no broken followers.

He explained that the followers are breaking due to “over buffering” the gun when it is held.
I’ve been shooting a long time and the term “over buffer” is a new one to me.
In fact, I couldn’t find it when doing a Google search.

    So there ya go folks.
    It’s not the gun's fault.
If you don’t want to break your followers, just make sure you don’t “over buff” the gun when you shoot it.
On the bright side, if you do “over-buff” when you shoot, and you continue to break followers, they will modify the gun to prevent that from happening.

If you’re as confused as I am regarding “over buffering” just give Kahr’s customer service a call.

You should of asked him what that term meant. Whatever it means, broken followers are not of the shooter gripping, holding or shooting the gun incorrectly. Does he mean holding it well enough to "buffer" the recoil or allow it to recoil too much in the hand? The barrel ramp hits the follower, so what could someone be doing when shooting it to make it happen? What he told you is nonsense and no matter how loose or tight I grip other pistols, the magazine followers don't break.

I personally modified my CM9 feedramp just to make sure it never happens to mine, so I'm not worried about "over buffering"...whatever it is.

I did ask him, but received a rather ambiguous answer.
I am just repeating what I was told by the CS rep (the British man).
He said that if followers are breaking, it is due to the user "over-buffering" the gun when he shoots it.

      The number is 508-795-3919.
Ask him how you can prevent "over buffering" so you don't break followers.

For all the time you spent putting it on a public forum where there is no official Kahr representation, you could have just followed up with someone else at Kahr to get the answer to your question.

Or, were you just looking to vent and complain?

I've been collecting, shooting, carrying a pretty long time and that's not a term I've ever heard. Not saying it doesn't mean something to someone, but... it certainly is not a commonly used term, at least referring to guns. Aspirin maybe, not a Kahr.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Buffering is the extreme polar opposite of limp wristing. MBSL500 is a man of steel.

My CM9 has never had a problem of any kind. It has to be because I an not an "overbufferer". I guess that is why my revolvers have never broken a follower either. Knew it all along.

Good Lord Almighty.... Is the rep you talked to related in any way to that carney, Jay, who works for O'Bumma?

Over buffering. IOW, you held the pistol tightly, in order to prevent stovepipes, and well... you got too tight, and the barrel hit the follower. Dangit. Y'all should know that you gotta watch the barrel nose as you shoot, so make sure its not smackin the follower that way? Adjust your grip from shot to shot to keep yerself in line!

I'd have asked that twit, to explain how rework by the factory cures an over buffering problem with the shooter.

Like zits on a leftist coed at the local liberal arts college, a Joe Biden employee eventually surfaces in every company from time to time.

So why doesn't Kahr have any official representation? If they are dumb enough to NOT have somebody on here reading this, then they deserve the negativity. I've got nothing against Kahr. I own a CM9 that has about 350 thru it. I came here to find answers to some of my issues (slide lock mid mag and one broken follower). I've emailed Kahr with no reply so far. Phone call is next. I think there is a picture developing here, whether you want to see it or not.
