New pm9 feels wierd.

Well i finally sent the damn thing back to kahr. This has got to be the most aggravating pistol i have ever bought. I have several sig sauers, springfield xdm, kimber just to name a few and i have had nothing but perfection from these guns right outta the box . No 200 rd. Breakin period .
Kahr has got to work on their guide-rod assembly . This was my first kahr and will definately be my last! You would expect more from a gun that costs 500+ dollars and boasts of being "made in the u.s.a"
get it together kahr!!!!!!!!!

What in the world happend? On the previous page, things seemed to be ok.

A new guide rod spring is longer than one off the gun because it has not been compressed yet. I just changed out my guide rod spring; it had 1,400 rds on it, and I had a fail to eject so I decided it's time to change since 1,200 is the recommended change time. I pulled the old spring out, and it was at least 1/4" shorter than the new one. I put in the new one and shot 50 rounds. I pulled the new one out, and it's now compressed to almost the same size as the one I just replaced. Hope this answers any questions. Also, do NOT rack the slide with an empty magazine in it, the bottom of the slide will put a gash in the top of the plastic magazine follower.

The recoil spring should not pop out the front of the slide. This might happen if the spring was put in backwards.

Predestyned, I hope you give them a chance to figure out what the boggle is with your gun. I know how much it sucks to have to send something back and have it be gone for an unknown length of time. I suspect it wont' be too long for you but any time is too long.
I understand your frustration and hope that Kahr gets you back on the happy trail. If this turns out to indeed be your last Kahr, we want it to be a good one. Suspect you might change your mind but I've been wrong before.

you have something wrong with your kahr, possably even the guide rod. The fact is that 99.995% have no issues with the guide rod assembly on kahrs. I would peddle it also, as u will never have faith in the gun, so best to just go with what works perfect for you.
When on gets a lemon, it leaves a bitter taste in ones mouth, guns what ever model are no different. Ihad a Para Carry 9 that I loved, but it was a very trouble some gun, peddled it, Owned 3 kel tecs, all gave big time issues. Peddled all of them. I notic en this site that Bawanna has a Para and seems to love it, so in my case sh-t happens..

tip on the empty magazine thing. One should really not be able to rack the slide on an empty magazine, as it should lock open every time.

well i got the guide-rod adjusted just right and it was indeed "as smooth as butter" until i shot a clip through it. then it was right back as it was. the spring trying to work its way in front of guide-rod. so i take out the original and put the new(longer one) in seems to be doing ok...until i fire a clip through it . every.EVERY round fails to eject. wayyy to much trouble. i guess i got a lemon but i hear others speak of the same problem with the damn "guide rod" on this forum as well as others? . but thats how it is i guess. some people hate sig sauers. but to me it is one of the best guns i have ever put in my hand.
i hope they get it fixed right. i may keep it i dunno? i did call and cancel my order for crossbreed mini tuck. so probably will sell and move on lessoned learned.

is the spring wanting to come out the front of the slide hole?? Or is it trying to climb over the end of the recoil rod washer type thing that goes against the barrel lug. I am honestly trying to visualize what is going on here but just not sure. I assume you have the outter recoil spring on correctly with the open end of the recoil spring towards the front of the slide. What is there to adjust on the recoil rod anyways. It goes in only one way, where is the adjustment at?? I am sure you have the right one but measure that flat part on the recoil assembly that goes against the barrel lug, It should be 1/2" across. If by chance yours is 3/8" replace it entirely..

well not exactly "come out the front" slide hole but the front coil sticks out overlapping front of, and gets in the way of the "guiderod". causes it to have to push its way over the spring each time. makes gun run as if gravel has been poured into it.
by taking slide off i am able to work with spring assembly and finally get it to fit right and it feels nice in my hand when i rack the slide. until i shoot it and then it starts all over again.. i get a migraine just thinking about it.

So is your gun at Kahr or enroute as stated here or are you still troubleshooting it yourself at this point. I'm easily confused but you said you got a new spring which didn't do anything but frustrate the problem. Now I'm curious where we're at now.
I know your frustrated but I'm gently still trying to help if possible.

trying to even open up that end tip on the outter spring even more. I even think kthat is why they recommend always the open end towards the front of the slide to help eliminate what u seem to be having. I wold try to open that end up more to see what transpires. What have you to loose in trying. I just have never encountered this ever and I have replaced my outter recoil springs many times let alont re-assembling them in the gun probably 500+ times. I still feel there is something totally out of spec with your slide and barrel and recoil assembly as this just does not happen. I have read of a very very few doing it but it seemed to go away with new replacements of springs, certainly never just continued on and on and on.

Sounds like the hole in the slide is too big in diameter?

By the way, I have had 2 warranty issues (I had to have a barrel replacement and the guide rod flange came apart in the front) with the PM9. It's fixed now, and I am happy with it.

It really does, doesn't it. Seems like that would be visually obvious, the rod would be all sloppy. But I don't see anything else that would contribute to this issue. New one for sure, never heard of a too large guide rod hole.
We need answers here, I hate unsolved puzzles.
