  • PM9 Spotted Barrel

Got my gun back from the factory and noticed this on the barrel...spots. I can't get them off with cleaner.
Anyone else have this happen? How did you fix it?
Not whining, just looking for a way to get rid of them.

The factory barrel's satin finish is just bead blasting.
Take it to anyone with a blast cabinet and glass media and it'll look like new.
    I sent you a PM.

I had spots like that on my K40 frame when I got it used. I cleaned it with a green plastic scrubber and a product called "Barkeepers Friend" that I got from Bed Bath and Beyond. It's meant to clean stainless steel appliances without scratching. Just gentle hand pressure. You could try that or any of the other methods you find on here for how members cleaned stainless frames or polished barrels. Good luck.

I just read imbecile's post and it reminded me to mention that my recommendations will make the barrel shiny (if that's OK).

The stock barrel isn't polished. The satin finish is done by bead blasting.
If he wants it to look like new rather than polished, that is the only way it can be done.

I believe that all Kahr Barrels are nickel plated after they are bead blasted, but I'm just a dummy. As Jocko if you don't believe me.

Speaking of Jocko, his way of removing spots is to shoot it like you stole it.

I just read muggsy's post and it reminded me to mention that my recommendations shouldn't remove any of the nickel plating.

MBSL500 is the man! I'm sending it to him tomorrow for refinishing!
My question is...since it was fine BEFORE I sent the gun in to Kahr, how the h@#l did it come back looking like that??

My understanding is the barrel is nickel plated. Here are some methods to clean nickel with out bead blasting it off. But, since it is stainless under the nickel, it probably won't matter if you remove it.

So you're gonna bead blast a plated finish, huh? For the sake of removing a cosmetic blemish?

I don't know, but I've been told that the spotted barrel is on the endangered species list and shouldn't be disturbed. It hides within the confines of the slide and only make a brief appearance when fired. Jocko tells me it's like a sore dick and shouldn't be fokked with. Just sayin'. (Fellas, that one might be a tad over the line, so if you don't hear from me for awhile you'll know where I've gone.)
