  • Pros or cons of buying a CM45?

I don't need this gun but I sort of like the feel and size of it.

    Yes or no for 299?

Things you like or don't like?

I've briefly skimmed the forums and looks like either feeding or ejection issues?

My CM45 is great but I did have to dremel the barrel hood a little in order to cycle full rounds. Spent shells were no problem. Small price to pay. Honestly I'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner.

For $299, buy it. Mine is nice.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

The only drawback for me is that in a small pistol, I prefer 9mm. but, if you want a .45 in a small package, sound like a great deal.

I sure like mine. I would say Yes buy it!

PRO- Runs 100%,carries great, fun to shoot, accurate and a surprisingly soft shooter for a 45 auto that weighs 17oz! and can fit in you pocket.

CON- Really not much. I guess having to do the slight mod to the edge of the barrel hood so that it would eject live rounds. But that is a very quick, easy fix.
And one thing I learned recently. The front sight has different size pins(larger) then the other C series Kahrs. that makes it not compatible with the front screw on Trijicon NS. But if you want night sights it sounds like Dawson precision can make them. So no big deal there either.

I'd have jumped all over a CM45 if my silly superstitions didn't like to cost me money!

I'm kidding but only half kidding. Couple of years ago I wanted a CM9 in the worst way. But during the craze, there was none to be found. Impatient, I bit the bullet and opted for the PM9. It's been perfect.

Then I wanted a CM40 but the great experience with the PM9 triggered my desire to keep it rolling. Yeah I know they're both Kahrs and that should be enough but we're talking serious stuff here with superstitions and voodoo or some such thing.

PM40 it was. A little trouble but nothing that a new recoil spring assembly couldn't solve. Flawless since. Gun gods are smiling on me.

So the PM45 was now a given. Perfect but geez... I could've had at least six Kahrs by now! Dang superstitions.

Now I want a CW45 but we know how that might work out... I'm weak and maybe a touch, um.. touched. So don't be me.

            Get the Springfield.

            Kidding!

So is the issue that it won't eject a live round? Such as end of the day, drop the mag and when you cycle the slide the round in tube does not eject properly?

Is this on all CM45's or just a certain run (like the short rail issue on the CW45)

^^^ not all of them but it's not unusual. See post #7 of the following thread: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.p...592#post119592

IMHO the CM45 is an great gun...sweet shooter and very carry-able. That a .45 can be that small and that fun to shoot is amazing to me.

I have the PM45, so for 299 you cannot go wrong with a CM45! I wish I could find a CM9 for that price.

Things I like - it shoots great for a tiny gun. Fits in a pocket. Surprisingly accurate in my hands.

Things I don't like - the cheese grater grips. They can be dealt with by either shaving them off like I did, or putting a bike inner tube over it.

Yes, when trying to unload a live round the bullet tip gets caught on the corner/edge of the barrel hood.

I bought my CM45 the first day they were made available for sale. It is one of the first 50 they made. It had this issue. A few other people, with the CM45 (and other kahr 45's) have posted about having the same issue both before and after I got mine. So it is just a random thing.

If your gun would have this issue Kahr will fix it for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

But It is such an easy fix to do yourself. You just have to break the sharp inside top edge/corner of the barrel hood. I used some stones and BY HAND cleaned up the sharp edge then polished with my Dremel. If you don't have those tools you could even do this with some emery cloth or even a nail file/board.

                    EDIT:
Here is an after pic showing what little work I had to do to mine to fix this issue. It works perfectly now for every type of bullet I have.

How is the recoil? My CT45 is a surprisingly soft shooter. Way softer than my XDM 3.8 .45 or my Sig P220.

Would it be similar to an xds .45? I had one of them and didn't care for it. Then again I didn't like the way it fit my hand or the trigger either. Kahrs just seem to fit my hand and allow a solid grip for me.

I added a pic to my last post for you.

Like I said, it is a surprisingly soft shooting gun. Especially for its very small size and lightweight. It is a really fun little gun to shoot. If you're a shooter I doubt you will have any problem with its recoil IMO

I've owned both the CM and the PM. I got the CM45 first because the price was great. Very accurate and fun to shoot. I also had issues with the barrel hood. Nothing major, but enough that I sold it and invested in the PM45 which is close to perfect. Really can't go wrong with either one.

Wonder if newer ones have the hood issue but then again looks like a simple fix. Thanks for the pics
