someone post some photos of the older style lower section of the kahr PM40/9 compared to the newer style PM40/9. All kahr seems to show on their UPDATED webb site is the older obsolete version.

This also means people are going to be confused by mine (sweet)

EDIT- the rounding on the new style is much more dramatic in person

wow, must be my eyesight but I can't see any difference int he lower section, sure would be nice to see them picutred side by side..

OK now your really got me confused. both pictures are the same, both guns have the old style slide on them and the none tapered slide stop lever also?????

Admittedly it is hard to tell with pictures. Side by side would definitely show it better. If you open both pics in separate tabs and click back and forth you can kind of see it. My friend is ordering a new PM9 this week, I will do a side by side as soon as he gets it.

Obliquely related to the slide change on the PM's. I decided to shop for a Fobus IDPA holster for my PM40. I sent Fobus an email to be sure I had the correct model to order.

I received a phone call from Steve who stated that because Kahr has changed the design on their PM handguns, it is a big problem for them. Making a holster to ensure proper fit is a big problem. He stated that Kahr (and other manufacturers) make unannounced changes and the holster manufacturers no longer know what is going to fit. At this time, he can NOT refer me to a Fobus holster that will fit my PM40. That's interesting information. He actually referred me to another company, (he did not say this to me directly, but it was) as if they were not even interested in making a holster for Kahr. I'll have to look at the Fobus holster to see why this slide change would be an issue. Now I can begin to see why 1/4" or so of slide change would cause such a stir in the industry. Fobus told me this happens all the time. I like my new model PM40 and I have other holsters that fit it just fine, but the issue seems to have snow balled. Just thought I'd throw my 5 cents into the ring.

I see no reason why the old style Fobus wouldn't fit the new style PM myself. I'm not a big or even little fan of Fobus but it should work.

I would think unless that fobus has a closed end that estra 1/4" or less should make no difference. Nothing else changed on the guns....

I thought the same thing Jocko. Agree...shouldn't make a difference. It sounded to me that they simply were not sure, until they looked into it. The reason I asked is because the model holster that is in the catalog for PM40 stated it was for metal only. This did not make any sense. I was inquiring about the polymer frame to make sure the holster would work and this opened up their discussion about the Kahr changes. I just included this info in the thread because I thought it was pertinent that when manufacturers make small but important changes, there are additional areas that can be adversely affected.

Until I locate a good IDPA holster or am certain about Fobus, I will simply use my G&G leather holster which is what I use when I don't pocket carry. It might be good to get some time with it and build up my draw speed. Good practice.

However, any other PM40 suggestions for IDPA? Didn't mean to divert the thread and if I did...sorry...please feel free to get it back on track. Just passing on the info. Tx.

Thanks! Just put it on this weekend after my 2nd range trip with it. Seems a little off out of the box, but I've yet to fire it using the laser. Hopefully in a couple weeks!

I think the issue here fellas is that the PM45 is the only model that has that new undercut frame/slide now. Those PM9 pics are just like mine which is a couple of years old....

Maybe they'll change, maybe not - it will probably be a big surprise like this PM45 deal if they start shipping. Look at gagnejs8's new 9 made in Jan. All new PM9s on GB look just like mine, and they aren't stock photos either like the website.

If you look at the pictures on KAHR's website, it seems to be only the external safety and LCI has the tapered/beveled edge on the slide release. The other models all appear square.
