My 8 round mags. have a extension. I use them for my back up reload and the short 6 round mag as my carry mag. The extensions on the larger mags are plastic and work better thatn an edtension as well as giving you two more rounds.

I say let the pinky hang and you will get use to just using your middle and ring fingers. The reason for the small grip is to keep the size small. If you are going to extend the grip, then you might as well use a larger gun.

I have delegated my new 7 round magazine as my back up ammo supply. I put it into a cheap mag pouch that I can carry in a pocket fully loaded and kept clean. Will also use it at the range.

This is what I do as well. I say if you are going to carry a spare mag, then carry one with more capacity. When I am shooting with the longer mag, I still only grip the gun with two fingers so that I do not interrupt the function. I have also heard that the pinky can also cause you to pull shots, don't know if this is true or not?

Here you can see how the extension extends even beyond my pocket holster.

One thing I don't like is that the extensions slip on and off too easily, they do not click in place. Here you can see how the button does not even hold the extension in place. I've actually accidentally popped the extension off.

Below is how I carry. My spare mag in weak side pocket does have the extension in the event I need a reload. This also allows me to use the extended version at the range.

In the end I like them but definitely would not use them for carry. Hope this helps!
Stupid question but my Pearce extensions came with a replacement black plastic baseplate with a button on it to keep the extension on tight. Mine fit very well.

That must be why mind don't stay on, I certainly didn't get replacement base plates.
