Kahr PM9 vs. Walther PPS

I recently picked up a PPS 9mm in a trade. While I haven't gotten it out to the range yet, I've done some dry-fire practice with it as well as some mag change practice.

My first impression is that the trigger is way grittier and creepier than I expected. Before I bought my CW40, I tried out a PPS. I don't remember the trigger on that gun being like this one.

Secondly, the mag release is odd but I've developed a technique utilizing the middle finger on my shooting hand that allows me to easily and consistently drop the magazine. Dropping magazines has always been a struggle for me with the CW. I guess my hands are a little bigger than average and my shooting hand palm puts pressure on the back side of the magazine in my CW making it difficult to drop when utilizing a standard mag release position.

Everyone is telling me how well and accurately the PPS shoots. They tell me coming from Glock, it's only natural to choose the PPS for your slim single stack CCW. It's very shootable.
All of that may be very well true....but you know what? I shoot that little CM9 quite well indeed. It's smaller and lighter with the same capacity. Hmmmmmmm.....

I have a PM9 and love it. A friend of mine has a PPS in 9mm it is a very fine pistol and I shoot it quite well. I personally like the looks and ergo's of the PM9 where I think the PPS is a bit of an ugly duck and I'm not sure I'm crazy about the location and operation of the mag release. The PM9 is smaller and I believe a little easier to CC. As I said though both are fine pistols.

I owned a PPS 9 and I thought it was a great gun. It was sized right,accurate and I enjoyed the trigger. Unfortunately my experience ended with Walther refunding me after the 3rd trip back. It has a design flaw with that backstrap safety. If the mag isn't pushing hard enough on the backstrap to disengage the safety the gun won't shoot. It's a complicated design they need to part with IMO. I'll take my simple design CW9 over a PPS now.

I have a couple hundred rounds through my PPS now. The trigger has smoothed out considerably. I don't think the previous owner shot it much.

As far as my ability to shoot it accurately goes, that has also improved. During my first range session, it didn't point all that naturally for me. After another session, it's much more natural. Overall, I would say that I shoot it a bit more accurately than my CW40, at this point, and about the same as my PM9.

I really like not having to hit the slide release (or override the slide release) to chamber a round, initially.

pm9 gets my vote!!!!! not sure the cm9 was released when hickok45 made this comparison video. hickok45 is a great shot. i'm sure all of us wish we had a shooting setup like his. i have to drive 20 minutes to my closest range, everytime it feels like the longest 20 min drive of my life.
