Different angle, who bought a CM9 and wished later they went with a PM9?

For me it was a matter of the cost. I typically buy the best version of anything or I do not buy it. However, this was my third gun purchase in 3 months and I just did not have the cash to get the PM9. I purchased the CM9 for $450 out the door. After dealing with the stove pipes until I had 400 rounds though it I was wishing that I had gotten the PM9. However, now that it is broke in and shoots any brand ammo, I have no desire to trade it for a PM9.

In reading posts, it seems that more people have more problems with the CM over the PM so I have to wonder if Kahr gives the PM more attention during manufacturing. Although this could just be that more people purchase CM over PM.

Actually, Banana, my head is spinning like a dervish between the CW45, PM45, and a Brand X 45. The obvious solution is to buy a winning lotto ticket and purchase all three, but that ain't gonna happen.

The Brand X I'm considering is a skosh bigger and heavier than my K9, has a grip that feels just right to me, doesn't need a break-in period (not that there's anything wrong with that), and is likely the best shooting of the bunch, though I'd have to change my sig line to "man of alloy." It's also the same price as the CW45, but holds one more round and comes with two mags. The CW45 is slimmer and trimmer, which is to its advantage.

But I'd love to have a small discreet .45 to carry to friends and family's homes (for the journey to and from, clearly, not while there) without the awkward questions about that odd bulge in my hip.

      So yes, I lack focus.

It's not a difference in the quality or dependability of the guns, but there are a WHOLE LOT more CM9s being purchased than PM9s right now. That's all.
        Very interesting...

So after doing a ton of reading there are so many who say save the $150-200 and get a CM instead of a PM(insert cal), just out of curiosity:

Who initially went with a CM to save a few dollars only to find out 2-3 months later and when after they adjusted to their initial investment, thought they should have just spend the extra few dollars and got the PM instead?

I thought about this concept myself because I have done this a number of times, I find I mentally settle and get the lesser only to be haunted by my initial desires leading me to either wishing I had just got what I originally wanted or selling what I have to purchase the original model.

After putting things into perspective, I myself chose the PM (which will be here next week), but I was temped by the price of the CM, at the end of the day I knew I would want the PM and said screw it, after a few months or a year I wont be too concerned with the extra expense, and felt I would be happier with the additional benefits of the PM series (for me NS's were a key purchase value).

Just thought I would throw it out there

          Cheers!
If I had it over I would have purchased the PM9. I had two after market night sights break Kahr installed on my cm9. The pm9 in my opinion has a better more sure front sight (dove tail) design.

It's not for me to say but that's never stopped me before...

If I had your choices I would narow it down to "If I could only buy one for all carry occasions what would it be?" If I were answering that, I would start with the toughest requirement and that is concealability to your friends and family visits. OK, Rank them by conceivability. Then, which is better shooting, and is that a preference matter that can change with practice. Rank by long term shootability. Then rank by other criterion. For me that would be PM45 for concealability and 1911 for shootability. However, I've learned to shoot the PM9 as well as my 1911 so no doubt the same for the PM45. The PM is smaller than the CW so it would end up being the PM45.

Well, except for the little matter that the PM45 is not legal in CA. So I would get the P45 which is legal and if necessary cut the grip down to PM45 size.

I've always been fond of the PM9 but the price of the CM9 along with
the free magazine made it irresistible.
Now that I'm sold on Kahr there's a CW45 in my near future.
The money I saved gets me 1/2 the way there!

Johnr and Old Lincoln, a P45 just came up in the sales area. A black one with mepros. Looks pretty nice. I don't think a P would be hard to hide and since CA don't allow the PM it might be a good option.

Don't you fellas go to fighting over it though. I'm all about peace and abhor violence.

I looked at it and my wife said I can have it, just not now. Well, she said she would buy me one if she had the money. Somehow it sounds better to me when I say that to her! That is a real fine gun and I like the sights too. I doubt he would take that on lay away to be picked up Christmas next (2012 that is - if we're still here).

I've haven't even had my CM9 for a week yet, so take you can discount it however you want to.

I was initially looking at a Glock 26 for concealed carry but ultimately decided that it was larger than I wanted to try and carry right now. In looking at options, I came across the PM9/CM9, and even briefly considered the CW9.

I just felt that for me that, while the PM9 was a good value, the CM9 was a great value and I went with it.

I just wanted a quality firearm that I could count on to perform and I think that I got that with the CM9.

Well, 3 heart attacks did it for me! Now, I'm taking low dose aspirin, blood pressure meds and whorfing down fish oil horse caps 3 times a day to make it behave. When your mind is really made up, it's not hard to quit. Mind over matter. Ommm.....

Has Kahr released their sales statistics? Would love to see this info if you have a link.

No. Just kind of obvious, isn't it?

I have thought about it, especially since I have a PM40. I put night sights on my CM9 and have fiddled with it and like it, but I am one who will eventually get a PM9 just to match the PM40. Until then, I'm happy with the purchase, I have the least expensive really good carry 9mm available. Just not as pretty as the PM.
