Different angle, who bought a CM9 and wished later they went with a PM9?

The only thing that I didn't like about the CM9 was the poly front sight. Fortunately that problem is easily resolved with a $30 steel front night sight from Kahr. I didn't need a polygonal match target barrel in a defensive carry handgun and the MIM slide release works just fine. For the extra 250 I got a nice holster and some spare mags. I'm perfectly happy with the butt ugly magazine that sticks out of the grip, because I seldom look at it while shooting. I consider a gun a tool. I doubt that I'll ever win a beauty contest, either.

To me, it's very obvious that I chose PM9 over CM9 because of the following reasons:
      1) It's a better gun (functionality, look, quality)
      2) More important reason, if you depends your life on a pistol, you might as well forget about the "couple hundred bucks" difference (not that I'm super rich or anything).

The only reason I would see one taking the CM9 is "he/she absolutely cannot afford the price difference."

WOW! My employer is self insured and they have been riding the smokers hard to quit or else they are going to slam us on premiums. They offer free meds and support classes to quit and give a break on premiums if you are a non smoker soo.... I'm going to be taking them up on some free help to quit.BTW I shot a couple of mags off the back porch right quick this morning. Liking my PM9 more with every shot!

Bought the CM9 as I liked the feel of the gun, and considered the PM9, but the CM9 went home with me, and the $200.00 + savings is going towards the P99c I'm picking up this week. I understand the virtues of the PM9 vs. the CM9, but I see the CM9 as more of a down and dirty fighting gun and not in need of the additional bells & whistles. JMHO.

And that is the main reason why many choose the CM9 over the PM9.

I'll stick with my PM9 thank you.

I already had the PM9 when the CM came out, so I was spared the decision. When the CM45 makes it's appearance I will probable spring for one to replace the stolen PM45 for hot weather. However, the cooler weather has arrived, and I can wear a jacket or at least a long sleeved shirt, which means I can cover a belt holster and carry a lot more of my pistols. Lately I have been growing more and more fond of the little CS45. It's small but not a pocket pistol, it shoots very well, it holds one more round, I can get all three fingers on the grip with the mag extension, it's DA/SA, and I prefer a 45.

BTW, I took a new photo of my collection, which I hope will be stable for a while. The CS45 in on the right of the second row.

"O'Dell, what are you afraid of?"

                      "Not a damn thing!"

Please stop talking about a CM45, that'll probably come out after the K45 and I can't wait that long.

I recently bought the CM9. Purchased due to a stolen LCP. I can fairly accurately say that I would buy it again, over the PM9.

                        Functionally? Wheres the difference?

If we are talking sights - I am not real big on night sights, but that could be a reason to choose the PM. I certainly understand this as an issue for others, and a reason to upgrade. Not an issue for me.

Match grade barrel/polygonal rifling - its a SD gun. If I wanted a match gun, we are talking a real difference, but a PM/CM size gun would not make that list. I have one of those already, and its not a subcompact... I didnt buy this for more than 10 yards, and if the difference in a hit vs a miss is the barrel, I didnt do my part with training and practice. So not an issue for me.

Stamping and slide edges on the gun. I like the looks of the PM more. I also like the black a lot better. If we are talking the difference between pot metal slide vs SS slide, we have a reason... Beyond that, I am not a mall ninja, and I dont need a cool looking gun. No functional upgrade, no big deal for me.

Extra mag - not an issue with the promo. But it could/would sway me if I were close on the two. I wasnt that close, so no problems there.

I have passed twice on a chance to buy a PM9 for a "deal", once at $529, once at $549. At these times I was carrying the LCP, but was considering the move to the PM9/LC9/Sig 290. I was barely aware of the CM9, other than knowing they had released a "cheap PM9, until it was time to buy. I did my research, discovered the differences, and decided what worked for me. I ended up with the CM9 at a price of $449 (PM9 was not available at the time for those prices. In fact, no PM9 in stock at all, to even cause a debate for me).
IF the black version was available at the same time, for a $100 difference in price, I would have bought the PM9, just based on color, and the ability to take home the extra mag at that time.

No, money wasnt the issue. I have other options for carry, even with the LCP gone. This was a luxury purchase, with 100% support from the better half, including an option for the Springfield EMP. I didnt buy for any reason other than meeting my needs/desires, and the CM9 did so.

I had two burglaries, one in August of 2010 with five guns stolen and another in February of this year and lost ten. Only two were ever recovered. They caught the guys, but the guns were long gone. My house has been considerably harden since and I have an 800 pound safe now. This is a gated community with security, but that didn't help. I've lived here for eight years and the only problems were four break-ins over a six month period, [two mine and two my next door neighbor] but none since the two jerks were jailed.

                                Not me!

I have no regrets over purchasing the CM9, has been great minus the one issue of the mags not dropping well. I can't see how the PM9 is worth the money...
