  • Gun shop tried to steer me to LC9

I'm in Hiram ,Ga and when I went to the gun shop to buy a pocketable 9 mm handgun, I looked at the LC9 and the CM9. The staff there did everything they could to persuade me to get the LC9. I am so happy that I went with the CM9 instead! I absolutely LOVE this gun! I'm not saying there's anything wrong with LC9, just proud of my purchase!!

Cool... They probably have a slightly higher profit margin on the LC9... Often, that's all it takes... Net feedback on the CM9 so far seems generally very good...

Exactly!! I've seen the same thing at Gun Shops I've been in, salesmen trying to push customers toward the LC9. It is very difficult to keep my mouth shut when I've seen it. "Look, it has a thumb safety, which you really need, bla, bla..." Unfortunately most of the customers I've seen this happen to, were not knowledgeable enough to wade thru the BS.

        Good move, in my opinion.

        Congrats on a fine purchase!

After comparing the trigger I don't know how anyone could choose the LC9 over the Kahr. You made a good choice

Congrats! A LOT of places get incentives for selling Ruger products... The salesmen get free guns for so many Ruger guns sold, etc... That is probably why they were pushing it on you...

Can't blame the sales person. Doing their job. It boils down to caveat emptor. Do your homework and if your still not sure then seek the advice of someone who's qualified and advice you trust.

I bought the LC9 because it had the features I wanted in pocketable gun. The trigger is a bit heavy, I guess someone is doing "hammer jobs" now to make the trigger smoother. I think the Kahr is going to be much more accurate out of the box with it's smooth trigger, but the LC9 has had about 300 rounds through it now without a hiccup. I'm getting used to the trigger and the groups are closing up. It's been a totally reliable little pistol from day 1. Plus it was $120 less than the CM9.

I've found that gun salesman are reluctant to really push guns they aren't familiar with also. Kahr isn't really a house hold name YET, but everybody knows Ruger. In some ways that's good thing, you can wear their hat without being labeled a gun dude.

You did the right thing. Nothing against the LC9, but the CM9 will do you proud..Mike

I think Bawanna is on to something here!

When I bought my CM9, my local gun shop guy was hesitant to recommend the pistol. I can understand this, as I've bought a lot of guns from this shop in the past.

However, I made certain to report to him the excellent results I've gotten with the new Kahr. As a result, he has ordered more from his distributors.

I had the same results from BassPro. They strongly tried to steer me to the Ruger LC9. But the fit, finish and good looks along with positive reviews here told me otherwise. Plus the Ruger isn't that much cheaper. Considering the Ruger ships with one mag and the Kahr currently has a free offer, the price difference is only $25.

Way to get r dun Rio. Getting the shops familiar with Kahrs is the ticket to getting them more locally available.
One of my FFL guys won't carry them, says they are too expensive. Ironically I bought my first Kahr a K40 from him. When I wanted my PM45 he said too expensive so I said ok and went and got it elsewhere. Some people are willing to pay.
Small guys I'm sure don't like having so much tied up in inventory but you gotta have what folks really need. I'm reluctant to say want since this same guy seems to cater the inexpensive stuff. Jimenez, KT, stuff that may work but isn't great. Certainly not the stuff reputations should be based on.
