I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5-30 syn oil in my Grand Cherokee and my Kahr's.

This is top quality and expensive stuff. It is rated to run 15,000 miles before needing changed, this means a lot less time under the Jeep for me!

The empty bottle (5qt) always has a little in the bottom/sides left over. I took an empty eye drop bottle popped the dropper tip, cleaned then filled it with the residual oil. There is easily enough left over to fill the eye drop bottle 2-3 times and the dropper allows easy, light application to my guns. It works great and I no longer buy any "gun" oil.

Harumpf! I guess I qualify as an old timer. Been shooting for more than fifty years. Damn near older than dirt. I don't believe in combining cleaning with lubing. Clean with one product and lube with another. I prefer oil to grease for lubrication except in the case of long term storage. Any good gun oil like Hoppe's will do. I don't see any real advantage to using synthetic gun oil and it's far more expensive. Clean you gun after every use. Don't look at it as a chore, but rather as a labor of love. Take care of your guns and they will take care of you.

It's not exactly a labor of love, but I kinda like cleaning/lubing my firearms. It reacquaints me with the mechanisms and workings of each firearm. I see and appreciate the inner workings. It helps me recognize malfunctions and their causes.

I've used Mobil 1 V Twin 20/50 on most of my pistols at one time or another. Most of todays pistols like Kahrs do not need all that much lube (couple drops)on them to work properly. I really do not see where it matters what you use as long as it's of good quality. Lately I've been using a Dri Lube on quite a few of my pistols and rifles with some very good results. I've even used it on the M1 Garand. Guns seem to stay a little cleaner and easier to clean when using the Dri Lube when shooting the dirtier practice ammo.

Frog lube? No way... frogs still squeak!

There was a big time shooter back in the 80's that promoted Mobil 1 motor oil for lubing 1911's. I cant remember who it was, but it was "all the rage" back in the day.

Personally - I like to match the wear and stress potential, and the way the parts move, to the lube that is called for. That is - heavier grease on barrrel locking parts (upper and lower parts), very light grease on rails, and perhaps just a light film of "oil" on other moving parts - VERY LIGHT FILM.

Heavy grease du jour - green synthetic marine grease, which sticks like elephant snot to metal and stays put.

Light grease is TW25b, which is more like baby drool than elephant snot

And oil - good ol' venerable Break Free CLP - which doesn't stay put, and also has an evaporating film with time... but it doesn't hold much dirt... so its a trade off.

(EDIT: slide changed to barrel.... my bad... brain not engaged)

Sometimes I think as gun owners we take ourselves just a little to seriously. Todays oils and greases are better than ever. The pistols and what there made of are better than ever. Many of us clean and lube our guns after a trip to the range,it's not like we take them into battle where there going to get drug through sand, mud ,blood and brain matter. I can't believe so many buy into all this latest and greatest just got to have or our guns will turn to useless junk marketing ploy hype. Do yourself a favor and buy some ammo with your money, it will serve you better, and will be a lot more fun.

I have yet to find anything out there that I can absolutely say is far superior to anything else for the type of shooting I do and how often I clean my guns.

I've been using a combination of TW-25b and FP-10 on all of my firearsm for 20 years or more and have never found the need for anything else.
Is there better out there? Possibly but I'm happy and so are my firearms.

for viscosity reasons, the mobil1 is probably hard to beat and i would run it though my ar or any gun the gets cycled quickly and abused. but my e.d.c. PM9 doesnt, and it runs perfectly with eezox dry lube. i read a post about a kahr that likes to run "wet." the only guns i run wet are guns that i am tough on shooting like my ar, 10/22 & mkIII. those guns get a lot of rounds put through them in bunches and sometimes they get pretty heated up.
to me, the appeal of frog lube is that (like eezox) it dries. having a dry lube is a huge plus for a service/carry weapon, not to mention a hunting rifle. i will be trying the frog lube to replace my clp when its gone and hope that it works well enough to replace the eezox too so i only have to keep 1 lube product around. i imagine a bottle will last a long time. i agree that most of these "military grade" products are overkill for what we are doing and in some cases more $ that could be spent elsewhere but then again, a cheapo pistol would probably do the job too, but we paid more for KAHRs because they are better...

I agree, Popeye. I always clean and relube my guns after shooting, so just about any oil will work for me. I have a forty year + habit of using grease on the rails, but oil is oil.

no doubt we way over emphase lubing. It is not a art. and as popeye saidk, lubes today are leaps and bounds ahead of what was out there even10 ears ago. If it works wirh whale sperm, go with it. elephant snot I hve not tried, I understand the procedure for whale sperm oil but not the procedure to get elephant snot. But I like to what the tv show called HOW IS IS MADE s. maybe it will be on there someday. Mobil One is a fantastic motory oil so why would it not work great in a gun that the slide maybemoves 3 inches with really pressure to amount to a hill of beans.

I have 24 quarts of Mobil V-Twin in my Harley mancave and 8 quarts of Mobil One 0W-40 for my Porsche and Mercedes:israel: I am ready.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

                              Militec-1

                              I think Kahr recommends Militec-1?
I used it to break in my MK40 and love it.
Now that's what I use with all my guns.
