What is a box really? A vessel to contain the very heart and soul (along with some literature and maybe a few goodies) of the firearm that will generally last a life time with loving devotion with minimal upkeep and zero back sass.
At what price and what quality do we draw the line between just a box and a treasure chest.
Do we keep the box as a reminder of the glorious day we first opened it and began our relationship with our new weapon. Are we only in the box saving business for the money and not the relationship? Can a man or a woman have a relationship with a firearm. Can a man or a woman have a relationship with a box.. The answer......YES WE CAN!
I save all boxes and packaging, usually in my man cave but reach a point where a few have to live in the garage, heavy sigh.
Not that I love one cardboard box more than another, not that I love a pistol box more than a rifle box, oily paper and moisture packets matter little to me, I have open relationships with all my boxes.
I think my boxes welcome new boxes with open flaps and strapping tape. I think that when it's time for the river crossing on the off chance that I come back as something else, I want to be a gun Box.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

My S&W 629, and Springfield Armory 1911, and LC9 all came in cardboard boxes. I was particularly pissed about the S&W. Damned cardboard box for a $700 revolver.
I thought the Kahr cases were okay, The newer S&W cases are nicer though.
Like Jocko says, my guns rarely spend time in the box they came in. They're usually in a holster, pocket, car console, or in a drawer by my bed, or my gun locker. I like those Remora holsters for storing a gun in a drawer, They protect most of your gun, yet they don't seem to trap moisture like leather and some of those gun rugs and slip right off your gun if you need it.Tom

I thought Smiths came in those blue cases.

I wouldn't mind if my pistols all came in a case like this. They fit in the range bag better.
Glock 23
CZ 452 ZKM Special
Walther P22
LMT STD 16
Mossberg 500A
Kahr P380
Henry H001Y
Winchester 12
Smith & Wesson M&P Shield
Mossberg 500B
Marlin 336Y
Kahr MK9
Kel-Tec KSG
Smith &Wesson M686+

Back in the mid70's and early 80's I bought a few N frame Smiths that came in wood presentation box with cleaning rod and some kind of long fiber cleaning patch. I suppose if you want to show the gun on display that was a nice case to do so. IMO the Kahr case is adequate but nothing more but I love my Kahr's.

Yeah, I do too, especially the latches. The Kimber case is similar but they must have one case to fit everything. My UC 3 inch was swallowed by a huge case. The 3 inch STI, on the other hand, came in a case I could almost slip in my pocket. I like the Kahr foam cases, but it wasn't until my seventh Kahr that I got one.Originally posted by 1slinginlead2 View PostI like the way Sig packages their pistols. Not that i can afford one.

My Kahr will never see the inside of it's case again. It's either on me or in my foam padded "Fun Box". It has enough room for all three of my pistols on top and all the magazines below. My SR1911 came in a white box but included a padded soft carrying case. Personally, if that's how my Kahr would have came I would have been just as happy.Ruger SR1911

Kinda odd - the case my new CW45 came in is exactly the same size as the one I got with my early PM9 years ago.
And the CW45 doesn't fit in it very well, particulary with the 7 round magazine.
Would druther have a Kahr rug with pockets for a couple extra mags.A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition

My first six Kahrs from PM9 to CW45 all came with the same case - the CW40 and 45 don't fit well. Another example of one size fits all - NOT. My seventh and latest Kahr, a MK40, came with the foam case which works quite well.Originally posted by Armybrat View PostKinda odd - the case my new CW45 came in is exactly the same size as the one I got with my early PM9 years ago.

Heck forget the gun, I want one of those "Foam Padded Fun Boxes" like Ken K has....That might be just the ticket for one of those long lonely nights with nothing else better to do!!!...
