I put my Garand back in it's original walnut furniture for the same reasons mentioned here. Just wasn't right in the laminate stock I did for it. It sure looked nice but just not right.Originally posted by Popeye View PostAnd Bawanna with his carbine would make it a fine day for sure.
I did it originally to preserve the original but I got to thinking as careful with my toys as I am it won't see anything near as bad as it's already seen. Very little I can do to cause it any more pain.
Might have a laminate M1 Garand stock for sale if anyones interested.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

My favorite to shoot would be an old Stevens side-by-side 12 ga that I grew up hunting with. My dad gave it to me a few years back. For hunting, I still prefer my 870 but I'll break out the Stevens now and then for clays and still hunt with it now and then.

Gee thanks guys, something else for my buy list...M1.
I was just at Gander (yea, really, more on that in a different thread in a minute) picking up my new Sig P250 on Sunday and they had an M1A SOCOM. Gotta put that on the bucket list thanks to this discussion. It might not have that nice walnut feel, but boy it was one slick black rifle. I was intrigued by the caliber, relatively light weight, etc...but for the price, I could do more, but I might just have to have one.
As to the question. My Kahr TP9 was my favorite handgun to range shoot, until today...maybe. As mentioned, picked up a Sig P250 on Sunday and made it to the range this afternoon. Gotta wait and see if it bumps the TP9 over the long haul, but at least for today, it's just awesome.

Definitely love shooting my Garand, I get really hyped when I break out the Luger or Broomhandle and nothing gets more attention than a Tommygun at the range. But I have to admit, my favorite gun to shoot is a 1926 S&W Hand Ejector in .44 Special."The Deacon" Zoot Shooter #84

The gun that I enjoy shooting the most is the gun that happens to be in my hands at the time. I love shooting them all for different reasons. My Mauser Mark-X in .30-06 with a Leupold scope gives me the most satisfaction, because it was put together by my fathers hands. My Gold Cup is my favorite pistol. My CM9 is always by my side. My Browning has given me the most pleasure afield. Every gun I own is a personal treasure. None of them has ever let me down.Never trust anyone who doesn't trust you to own a gun.

See now doesn't that feel better? I guess that's why I'm not a big fan of poly rifles. They might have a great heart but they got no soul.

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson (1764).

Right now I'd say my AR is the most fun to shoot (it's also the newest addition) and closely followed by my SR1911. I sure would like to add a Garand to my collection.Ruger SR1911

Ken, The M1 will never be as accurate as your AR or as as reliable in all conditions, but there is just something about that rifle that gives you a feeling like no other rifle can match. I call it ,it's soul. I love it mechanics(it's heart) every part tells you. " I'm a battle rifle, I'm meant to do some serious battle. Which our history tells us it did do just that when called apon to do so.Originally posted by Ken_K View PostRight now I'd say my AR is the most fun to shoot (it's also the newest addition) and closely followed by my SR1911. This is easy...
I was named after my grandfather and was his shadow when I was a kid. Fishing mostly but we got to shoot a bit too.....Well, before he died he told grandma that I was to get the 410/22LR Savage O/U. I have had the gun since I was 12 and every time I have been shooting since(43 now) the Savage goes with.
I remember shooting bees/wasps with it when I was a kid with grandpa. 2 weeks ago I shot the fuzz off a q-tip at 20yds (open sight) and my kids thought that was cool. (Grandpa did the same thing when I was a kid but instead on a q-tip it was a wooden match.
The Ar15, CW9 and XDM are fun but nothing makes me smile, both on the inside and outside, like shooting grandpa's 22.
