I officially once again proclaim that I HATE COMPUTERS!!!!!!

A couple days ago the sound simply stopped working. I couldn't see anything wrong but noticed the main SB XFinity sound card program wasn't installed, so i installed it - up to the point my computer froze. After a few hours to see if it would re-appear I tried to appropriately shut it down but it was locked tight as a bulls bazoo in fly season so I pushed the button. Now early in the boot process I get the lovely notice that the system file is corrupt. Grrrrr. Since my drives are off a Promise Raid card it won't even see the drives.

I'm normally an easy going guy but am now totally pissed! Of course I have XP 3 with all 1923 service packs installed - a full 3 day process, and I've been down this road many times in the past.

As much as I'd like to there's no way I can just "go out and buy a new computer" so I'm down to having a couple on the rocks and trying to restore which hasn't worked the last 19 times I tried it. If they'd stop forcing me into upgrades I'd do just fine with existing systems, but 640MB ram on a 1Ghxz processor doesn't hack it anymore. Any real world experience with Win 7 Home Pro?

    PS: Happy 46th anniversary honey.

we just finished (well, came to a stopping point....it ain't ever finished) installing and networking three new computers - one i3 and two i5's, all with solid state boot drives and bazillion gig backup/data drives....and Win 7. I hate Win 7, but I still hate windurs in general. We've spent close to three weeks getting all our s/w upgraded, but lost a lot of legacy s/w in the process. I'll have to hang on to one of the old XPPro machines to run some stuff. Did I mention I hate windurs seven?

Got backups? I just had malware like this a few weeks ago...I had to restore back 3 weeks. It's not your OS. XP is very stable. Unfortunately, the more you fiddle with it the worse it will get until you restore.

A Biker is sitting in a bar in Sturgis, South Dakota, when Barack Obama comes on TV.

The man looks at the TV and says, "Obama is a horse's ass." Out of nowhere, a local jumps up and punches him in the face, knocking the first guy off his bar stool, then stomps out.

The Biker gets back up, rubbing his cheek and orders another beer.

Shortly after that incident, Michelle Obama appears on the TV. He looks at the TV and says, "She is a horse's ass too!" Out of nowhere, another local punches him in the other side of his face, knocking him off his bar stool once again.

He gets back up and looks at the bartender, "I take it this is Obama country?" "Nope." replies the bartender. "Horse country."

Congrats, Tom. I hope they fixed everything properly and that you'll mend good as new. Do be careful and let everything have a good chance to heal.

Nice they let you out so soon. I think most folks do better when they let em out to recoup on their own. I suspect your doing the pillow hugging thing anytime you cough or sneeze?

I think that's the worse part the soreness from them getting to where they gotta get.

Take is slow, don't undo any of the good stuff.

                      Celebrate!

With my new Tacoma 4x4 scheduled to be delivered on September 14.
I've done the only responsible thing I could do and bought another gun.
Yes I know it's hard to believe.
But I've sent the check off for my second Heckler and Koch pistol.

A shinny new in box P2000 357 Sig LEM.

I know I just got one (new gun) two weeks ago.
And my new truck is delivered next week.
But a NIB HK P2000 357 Sig LEM for $649?!?!?
                              Are you kidding?

                              Do I need it? Nope.
Can I pass it up? NOPE!

Something like that doesn't come around often.
And when it does - I'm in!
