Just wanted to say hello. I'm a new owner of a Kahr PM9 and wanted to learn more about this terrific pistol. Figured this would be the best place to learn. Thanks for having me. Popeye.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your new PM9.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

A Conceal Carry Handgun Must Meet Four Conditions:
      1) It must be utterly reliable.
      2) It should be compact enough to be carried concealed for long periods of time.
      3) It should have a very simple operating drill.
      4) It should fire a cartridge of sufficient power.

welcome: Ihave been and gone on alot of forums but this is the best. You will learn here, you will be able to contribute here. Your PM9 is the best of the best. Read your manual and then reread it.

go to this forums kahr tech section and hit on the lube sticky. It is the best guide to proper lubrication of this auto and any auto IMO.

use the slide lock lever to load that first round. Kahrs are tight, they are small, they are sometimes hard to hand rack properly, until at least you get the hang of it. Pay attention to the outter recoil spring. The open loop always goes towards the front of the slide. Break in with fmj ammo, once reliable then go to the defense round of your choice. Practice close, stay 7 yards and under. These are defeense guns, IMO not target guns. Kahrs have a looooong by design trigger. Smooth as glass but looong. It takes rounds down range to get used to a kahr.

Remember YOU AND THE KAHR need to break yourselves in together. great gun , now just go out and shoot it like u stole it...
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Glad to have you here. You`ll find a great bunch of people who are eager to share their knowledge. There`s a lot of us who own and love the PM9.It is discussed at length here, probably as much or more than any other model.

Welcome new friend Popeye. I see a Garand on your list. (my favorite, held mine before I left this morning.) I nominate you for vice president of Kahrtalk. Or at the very least rock star status.
Again welcome and mostly ignore me, I'm off my meds.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. If this site is half as good as the PM9 I bought I'm going to like it here alllot.

Yes Surv I think we have. Saw a saaweet CW9 yesterday for $375 at the GS. Thought of you right off, even had nite sites. I think if I didn't already have the PM9 it would have been mine.

Bawanna 45 cal, yes I just picked up the M1 Garand yesterday. I'm taking it to a friend of mine to have it looked over. This guy eats, sleeps and breaths M1's.. It's mostly going to shoot blanks at the National Cemetary. It's very much used, which is just what I wanted, but seems to operate pretty good if I cycle it by hand. I'm told it will not cycle with blanks in it without a blank plug in the barrel. I really wanted a M1 of my own to put back into service of the country and it Vets, and nothing says goodbye like the sound of a three shot volley from M1's.. The serial # starts 5,83x,xxx and from what I'm hearing it was made in the late 50's. Still need to check some more on that though.

I've had some good luck lately. First I found a PM9 used that was so new the paperwork wasn't even filled out,and I got it at a great price, then I fell into the M1. But it did push my plans back on a Springfield Mil Spec 1911.

Popeye, I have a couple blank firing adaptors for the M14. I'm not sure if the same adaptor would work on a Garand. I have two and both are still in the packaging. I don't know much about firing blanks but if you figure or find out the same one would work I'll send you one. FREE, FREE shipping, FREE hauling out old appliances, FREE dealer prep. (think I just figured out why I ain't rich). Nothings too good for our Vets!
I had to wait about 15 years for my Garand, then I just said bug it and bought it thru a third party sight unseen and couldn't have done better. I put the original stock aside and put a Boyds laminate on it to preserve the original which was in nice shape. I'm no Garand expert either but I like em.

Thanks for the kind offer, but when I told Gunny I was getting one he ordered a Blank plug for the M1. They are about $10 for the one that fits my gun.

The good news is that the PM9 I bought has been flawless. Like I mentioned the PM9 had very few rounds through it when I bought (guess would be no more than 50) it so I treated it like it was brand new so I have shot about 200 rounds through it, but only a few Horandy Hollow points through it. A friend of mine managed to get me a 100 count box of Remington JHP from Walley World the other day so my next visit to the range I'll blast about 50 or so of them down the barrel and see how it performs. I also have a few Federal HST I want to feed it. So far it has eaten every thing I've fed it. I've tried just about everything I know how to do to including limp wristing it to get it to fail to fire or eject just to see what I can get away with. I have to say I'm very impressed with the PM9 and looks and feels like a little brother to my XD9sc.

popeye. CW series does not come with night sights, not even available (yet) from the factory that way.

I remember back some 50 years or so ago, when one could put his name in witht heNRA and get a MI for $20. I did that and low and behold was sent a brand spanking new, never issues Military MI carbine, made by the singer company . Needless tosay over the years, I somehow let that little rifle get away from me. brand new mnd ya, still packed in cosmoline and wrapped in wax paper...
