  • Heads up about Paypal

So yesterday I get an email from Paypal advising they were suspending my account untilt hey got further information regarding 3 recent transactions that "may have" violated their policies. All three transactions involved selling magazines for guns. In speaking to them, they wanted documentation as to the details of the transaction. I had to show proof of what the items were. I took screen shots of the kahrtalk forums indicating the items that were offered for sale.

After review, they did unlock my account. In speaking to the paypal employee, I was informed that any magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds is in violation of their policy as well as ANY firearm. She further told me that if they investigate any other of my transactions and they find that I have purchased or sold firearms or high capacity magazines that they would cancel my account and not allow me to withdraw my funds.

So, if you choose to use paypal please be careful, you could be SOL.

looks like obumer has got to them to.. a shame. I often wonder why good companies like this fail to grow. but now that I know all their male top executives have been nutered, I now understand.

It has always been that way, also with e-bay.

I listed some Glock magazines on ebay and the listing was removed because I had not said how many rounds would fit in the magazines. That also had to do with mags over 10 rounds.

I am guessing eBay has the policy to cover their behinds from folks living in states with mag capacity bans from trying to buy high cap ones. ebay would be the last place i shop for any firearm accessories online...plenty of other options.

I seldom use it but they do sometimes have wood, stock blanks, and that sort of thing. I used to look at knives there alot too but except for Kukri's I'm over the knife thing pretty much.

Most online auctions are not gun friendly. I think Craiglist also does not allow guns. Sometimes you have to read or list creatively. I've found 45 caliber hole punches and that sort of thing that to the unknowing ebay executive would mean nothing but meaningful to a gun person.

Did you use the gift option?

They frown on that if they think it was used to sell something.

it was not the gift option, it was regular where fees are paid.

How can they legally close your account and then not allow you to withdraw any funds that might be sitting in it?
If it's a penny for your thoughts and you offer me your two cents, what happens to the other penny? Taxes, the democrats tax everything!!

When you open Pay Pal account you agree to THEIR terms, or you can't have account.

Ebay owns Paypal, so their rules spill over. I have noticed ebay is allowing pictures of actual weapons in listings for holsters. Also seeing slides and other firearms parts that I didn't used to see.

So what is the recommended way to buy a used pistol on this forum or one of the gunbroker sites?

I had "thought" paypal was the way to go for more safety for the buyer in case of a scam.

What do you folks recommend for payment of a internet/forum purchase of a used handgun?
