I had an attorney friend call me today and this is his story. I had given him a name of a ammo seller that came off of this fourm about a week ago showing Sellir and Belliott 9mm for slae at a good price. He called them and they told him they just soldout but wouldt ake his name and eamil him when they get more. today. He checked his email and they had sent him a message tellinghim they just got in 10K rounds of 9mm s & b. He immidiately called them and they said yes we stillhave osme and he said I will buy 2K of them and while he was giving them his credit card info and mailing address etc, a memo popped up on his webbl site telling him they just sold out and have no inventory.

this stuff comes in and goes out faster than lighning.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

The website is probably not updated quickly enough to keep up. He should have placed the order over the telephone.

What Walmart does or does not do doesn't concern me much. It's interests have to do with Walmart...period. It's purpose is to make as few people as rich as possible, like any US corporation. Any other motive for any action it takes is pure fantasy.

But as for any retailer having 10,000 rds in to sell and the estimated timeline for how long that would last...I would expect that ANYONE right now who gets 10,000 rds from a supplier will not be able to fulfill ANY new orders with that small an amount of ammo, and I would doubt they would be able to fulfill even a small percentage of backlog--orders they accepted when their web sites indicated they had ammo available.

I would expect 10,000 rds to fulfill 10 orders, on average, and to be gone basically as it arrived. Sorry to those who weren't ordering ammo in October and November, or for those who wanted anything but 20 rd boxes of ridiculously expensive 'exotic' or 'designer' ammo. Reloading components were gone weeks ago.

I'd sooner fight with a kitchen knife and harsh language than waste my time walking through a Walmart looking for ammo. It can't disappear from the American landscape fast enough to suit me, and good riddance.

          Wal Mart?

You think the other stores are different?

Tell me the name of the store that is working with its suppliers to increase the amount of US made goods in their store to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars worth of US made goods in the next couple of years.

That store would happen to be WAL MART.

Way back in the 70's when I mentioned I was going to Wal Mart and was told that K Mart was cheaper I mentioned that Wal Mart sold better quality US made goods and one day they would regret their K Mart shopping.

When the US govt under President Bush sent out those tax rebate checks I invested in US made goods.

Couple of US made firearms and some US made ammo.

                Grotman,

The confusion is understandable. The box is labeled with the following: "Metal Case". Note that it does not say steel casing, but to some people, metal means steel.

UUM be careful I think some are brass and some aren't BUT I aint dead sure.

The steel cases should in all honesty be no worry. Someone mentioned that they want their cases to be softer than their firearms. IF your firearm was made of the mild steel the cases are made of it would not work for very long. Think of rebar that one can bend...

Generally the issue with steel cased ammo is the coating they put on them to prevent rust and that they do not expand to seal the chamber as well as brass and thus the chambers gets dirty and then the cases can stick and when that happens the extractor doesn't extract the case.

Yet all of this is just stuff I understand from reading and I have no amount of real experience to amount to anything.

I've had discussions with friend and have done some internet reading on the subject, and what I understand about steel cased stuff is:

                    1. Once upon a time the coating they used for rust prevention was a kind of shellac which, if you didn't scrub your gun between each shooting session, would eventually gum it up. Supposedly newer coatings are not as bad about that.

                    2. The thing about the casings not expanding and much and getting the gun dirtier from blowback.

                    3. Shooting ranges recycle their brass, and they're lazy about using magnets to pick the steel cases out, so they make rules about not using steel cased ammo in their ranges. They often justify this with a variety of misinformation. Not sure how aluminum stuff factors into this.

Most all steel cased ammo is foreign, probably areason for that to. I shy away from it . When wal mart has wwb i sotck I can't find any ammo lower in price that works as nice and is american made

When I was stocking up on ammo for SHTF situations, I bought mostly brass. But I also picked up some steel-cased stuff because it was cheaper, and because I wouldn't be tempted to shoot it, so I'd be guaranteed to have at least SOME always on hand.

I figure if a situation arises that requires me to dip into the steel-cased stuff, then all negative aspects of it will vanish and I will be damn glad to have it.

Stopped at wally world today to pick up 200lb. of dog food, walked by the gun racks, few shotgun shells, not much else, spied 5 boxes of 380, 100rd boxes. I mentioned to Ed, as guy who works there, that I must have missed the truck, no 9mm ammo. He said, " hey wait", and pulled 6 boxes of PPU off the back of the shelf. $14.97 a box of 50, made in Sebria, hey, maybe it will shoot.

Is confusing. Went home last night and compared a round from the yellow 250 count box and the 50 count green/white box. At least to naked eye they appear exactly the same.

                            Thanks,

My local Walmart's been out of 9mm range stuff for over a month. Today I stopped in and they had 4 hundred rd and 25 fifty rd boxes of Federal 115 gr. They also had a sign saying there's a 3 box limit. I quick did the math and figured 3 boxes of 100 is better than 3 boxes of 50 and snatched them right up.
