I keep rearranging my boxes in the safe to have optimal access to each type. I'm worse than an old nagy wife having her husband move the sofa here, no, there, no over there.

    3 high, 3 deep...no 4 high, 2 deep...no evenly spaced all the way across...no...arghhhhhhh...

      Well as usual.
      I started thinking about it.
      Started twitching.
And ordered 1000 rounds of Federal Lake City NATO .556- XM855 green tip, steel penetrator.

I'm still waiting on a shipment from Ammo to Go, but they took my money and said they have it in the warehouse... just about 22 days to get to shipping it!

I should have 2,500 or more per caliber with a lot of defense ammo. I'm not quite a full-blown prepper, but I don't plan to run out of bullets... good for barter... trade or out of the barrel if the SHTF. When I bought the 10/22 a year ago, I bought 9,200 rounds of specific ammo... including a lot of Stingers and several kinds of sub-sonic. That could be easily be worth its weight in silver... and at some point, maybe even some gold... certainly not paper money... the way it's being de-valued!

Hey Wynn, ammunitiontogo shouldn't have taken your money until you were next in queue and then they charge your card and ship it. You should have about 20 days to play with your money. At least so I thought.

I ordered ammo from them on 19 December and it didn't ship for about 3 weeks. This is a second order with a warning that it could take 22 work days or so to ship the ammo from their warehouse! They take the money immediately, though.

That's not the normal way I like to do business, for sure!

Thanks Everyone! I knew the boys here would give me ideas of what is "normal". Looks like I need a little more to roll with you guys. Not too much though, but I do have some ordering ahead of me. Will look at a couple ammo only stores tomorrow before I venture into the net to order.

                Thanks again

I haven't bought any ammo in about six months. Your question got me curious so I did an inventory of my ammo safe tonight. I have a 380 that I practically never shoot or carry and have 300 rounds of 380 ammo. I have about 1200 rounds of 9mm for the PM9. There are two 40's and about 1700 rounds of 40 cal S&W. For my eleven 45's I have 3400 rounds of 45 ACP. The ammo is about equally divided between FMJ and HP's and is all factory.

Looks like I need to buy some 45.

I've always kept enough ammo ( .22, .380, .38, .357, 9mm ) on hand so I can shoot for a few full days at the range, and have enough left over for social reasons. But lately, I'm buying everything I can get form any source. To the point where I'm going to have to add more support to the shelves in my ammo cabinet.
                      I'll admit---I'm trigger happy

Hey all, been a long time since my last post.

I tend to squirrel away defense ammo that works for each gun as I go.
I've got plenty of 9mm in HST, Ranger-T for the various 9's we have.
                        In 40 it's primarily 180gr HST's but I have a fair amount of the 180 Gr
bonded Winchester stuff that was so cheap couple years ago.
Say ~1000rds per caliber for defense stuff.

I don't have nearly enough .223/5.56 for a "comfort" level but certainly
enough to hold off the zombie hoards in more than a few tactical battles.

My main pain point is in range fodder. I recently ordered 1k rds of 9mm Blazer
from PSA. They were slow BEFORE this current tomfoolery. Who knows when I will
                        see it.

Another thing I've been thinking about a lot lately is redundancy in weapon systems.

I'm in pretty good shape in the hi cap belt carry handgun class (Glocks) and in
the Carbine class (AR's) but I really have no backup to my main pocket carry
PM9 (nor my wife for her CM9).

Obsessing about "what if's" is large part of this hobby I suppose
What if something broke on my Kahr and I couldn't just go to the LGS
or gunshow and buy a part or replacement. What if, God forbid I was involved
in a shooting and had my gun confiscated as evidence for 9 mos.

I ventured into the market looking for some CM9's last week and did not see much
available. Things down here in FLorida are picked pretty clean and whats available is pretty outrageously priced.

I did, however, find a few Beretta Nano's available at reasonable prices.
I never paid much attention to them before but they seem to be a sleeper.
                        Not real popular I suppose.

I picked up two of them earlier this week and put them through the paces.
They don't shoot as nice as my PM9 but they weren't bad either.
I was impressed at the build quality as well. For ~$400 it seemed like a
                        heck of a deal.

They're a skootch bigger than the PM9 but still pocket-able for me.

                        M-
