Why Laser sights are good.

I have them on all my snubbies. I can be on my back, around a barricade, single or offhand, daylight or night, with or without eyeglasses, and still have a great idea where the bullet will go if I apply proper trigger control. I can hit easily at 25 yards and I have yet to ever hear of a bad guy that likes a red dot on his/her chest. I can hand that same gun to a person that has never fired a pistol without any explanation of sight picture and they will scare the crap out of you after 15 minutes of training. I can also use it as a training aid to teach trigger control. The beauty is, you can turn them off if you don't like them.
Yes they can fail, but so can a round malfunction. What they won't do is replace having a knowledge of the basics of firearms."Never pet a burning dog"

I had a crimson trace on my PM40 for several months until I was practicing dry firing one evening and saw that either the laser or my night sights were knocked way off ( several feet , at about 10 feet from the target ). It turned out to be the laser. I took them off and have never regretted it. Your experience may be different , I just do not trust them completely any longer.

Your finger can get in the way of the Laser Grips... finger off the trigger. They can be helpful with draw and fire, but like in the movies, they can indicate your position... without the fog or mist! They can illuminate the vicinity of the laser on the pistol and from the front they are very visible... Hey, shoot at the light!
I have them on my K9... as well as night sights... fresh ones... and an extended grip 8-round +1 loaded, with two of those as spares at my TV chair. With that and a tactical light... I have dozens... I'm ready for almost anything, but I have other choices, too.

I have no use for them. I do like tritium sights but even without them I can double tap under stress close enough to poa at up to 25 ft in the dark to comfortably get the job done. Dancing red dot is just an unwanted distraction.NRA Benefactor

If the Laser dot is at your iron sights' POA, then you're good! The under-barrel mount has less parallax error than the grip-mounted ones show. I have a barrel-inserted laser bore sight that I use, too, but I wonder about it sometimes... dropped it when I pointed the barrel too low one time and the batteries went flying... didn't have the arbor tightened to spread enough!Still seems true, though, worked with my 10/22 to get it ready for the range.
I don't shoot with the laser enough, but if I put the dot on the target and focus on the trigger pull, I can "hit the dot" pretty often. That's a pretty good training aid. If you do anything wrong with the trigger, the dot is all over the place!

I was talked out of them because LEO's don't like them, well that's what my son said anyway. I've wondered about the pause, as in the video, of waiting to see the dot where you want. Then I tried them on a friends gun at the range and felt like it was cheating. Of course cheating is a good thing in a gun fight.
I may end up with one someday but for now my big dots feel more natural and faster.•"Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." - O. L.

I also am a huge fan of the Ct lasers and have them on all my carry guns. It is very easy to not activate the laser until needed and still have a good grip on the firearm. The old eyes need all the help they can get and the lasers work very well for me. I see them as an additional tool, I sue my night sights in conjunction with the laser and practice on a regular basis with and without the laser activated. I zero the laser in at 50 feet and have had not issue with it holding zero.Tony,

Lasers are good for those in situations as describe in the video I posted
so for some a laser is a must while others, they can do without them.
I do not have 20/20 vision and so getting a good sight picture
is harder as my near vision is not what it once was.
I need reading glasses for close up.
The laser helps me to get the gun on target and pump out the rounds
where I want them without wearing bi focals.
I bought this gun for defense, not as a target pistol.Last edited by palhandy; 03-01-2013, 06:34 PM.

I personally do not have any lasers on my pistols at the moment. However if my eyesight was to detoriate and I felt it benifitted me personally on protecting myself and loved ones. Sure why not.To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.
