Why Laser sights are good.

I want every advantage I can get on my SD weapon, and that includes a laser. The benefits to me far outweigh any drawbacks, to me holster selection with some of the lasers is the biggest drawback. As the video shows, you can put a bead on a BG, while exposing much less of your head, giving the BG a very small target to shoot at. I'd have lasers on all my SD pistols if I could afford it. Anything that will give me and edge in a gunfight, I'll take it.
I practice with both the sights, and the laser, so that I am not dependent on the laser should it malfunction.
I wonder if when rifle scopes were first introduced, if people had the same reluctance to adopt the new technology. "I've always done fine with iron sights, what do I need a scope for?"

A laser is another arrow in the quiver. Another sight, another tool. To me the main benefit is the fact that a laser allows one to make a very accurate unaimed shot. If you are in concealment, on the ground, contorted in an odd way, or otherwise discombobulated, you are still able to shoot an accurate shot without having the gun anywhere near your sightline. IMHO, this is an almost invaluable asset and makes the laser worthwhile.

One night, in a particularly dark parking lot, as I stopped a car full of urbanites for a "shots fired" call, they quickly exited and I found myself in a 5 to 1 situation. The local police showed up rather quickly and the group of rowdies got quickly calmed when they saw all the dancing little red dots on their chests. Not from me, but the city police. All I had was the issue 11-87 covering the crowd.
Now I too have a CT on my P380, and am contemplating one for the P45 I carry at work.
They have a place, but you should know how to use the regular sights, and even how to point shoot.
My quiver is quite full, but I always keep my eyes open for another option.

I've found the laser is a pretty good tool to help with point shooting, I draw my weapon and point at an object without using the sights, then hit the laser to see how close I would have come to hitting it. Most times when fairly close to the object (within 10-15 feet) I was within a few inches of where I thought the shot would hit. Now I am practicing with it at longer ranges, say 20-40 feet, and getting better at the laser lighting up the object I was "aiming" at. I do this a lot while watching TV and practicing during the commercials. I pick different objects each time, so I don't get familiar with pointing at just one thing. I live out in the country with no neighbors close by, so my muzzle doesn't cover anything that would cause harm with a negligent discharge, even though my gun is unloaded and safety checked. Plus I have been using a 1911 and never click the safety off, and keep my trigger finger on a reference point on the frame. I just tighten my middle finger to turn on the laser for a moment to see where the shot would have gone.

Just what would be a worst case Murphy's Law scenario from using a laser? Even if the laser was inaccurate or the batteries suddenly died, your firearm will still function.

My CZPO-1 is the only pistol I own with a rail that will recieve a laser. I have thought about putting a small laser sight on it for HD. Sure couldn't hurt if someone did break in,in the middle of the night, and me being still half a sleep with no glasses on. I do have a laser light flashlight como on the shotgun with a pressure switch that lights both at the same time. The flashlight portion alone will blind the hell out of you. .

I took another look and liked the LaserMax Guide Rod laser for my G30. I would be seriously interested except for the $300 price tag.

Precisely. I have seen way too many folks with lasers forget that the gun has iron sights which are the preferred method of sighting th egun that will ALWAYS work.

I have Crimson Laser sights on my XDm and for me they work really well. My vision at close distances is not what it used to be and sometimes it can be difficult to obtain the front sight when using standard pistol sights. So, currently my setup is the k9 to and from work Mon-Fri and the XDm at night and on weekends.
