  • Ammo solution

You will probably think I am crazy but I have found a way to practice without nearly non existent expensive ammo. I bought a Gamo P23 CO2 pistol to practice with. Ammo is available everywhere and I can practice in my back yard. It's a little bigger than my CM9 but the trigger pull is almost the same. The CM9 is very accurate but I wasn't. I have gone from being lucky to just hit the target to a 4" pattern at 25' and I can shoot anytime I want, cheaply. Works for me!

I'm not laughing, it sure sounds like fun! I have a cheap airgun that shoots those littl 6mm plastic pellets, looks like a C96 Mauser. lots of fun!

. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Nothing crazy at all about that! I've been using an air pistol for backyard practice for years. Sight picture, sight alignment and trigger control practice without recoil makes any mistakes very obvious.

Don't laugh at these things. I have owned a couple of Feinwerkbau's that would shoot one hole groups at 10 meters all day long. The down side, they were both well over a grand each. Easily the most accurate guns I have ever owned. Sadly I sold them both when I gave up competitive Bullseye shooting due to eyes and age.

If you can simulate the trigger of a Kahr, so much the better. I've had a hard time getting the accuracy I want from my Kahrs, and I think it's a matter of which part of my finger is on the trigger. For me, practicing with a laser, the pad between the knuckles seems to prevent jerking the gun.

Yep, shooting precision air guns teaches "follow through" better than any other discipline.

Good practice - illegal to shoot outside in most cities in the US. Great for rural areas where laws permit.

.177 caliber. Can you shoot plastic pellets indoors with a suitable traget/trap?

Is it the same weight as the CM9? I think I read somewhere that it is 9 lb. If so, I don't want it. If it is 4-5 lb, I am going to get one.
                      Very interesting...

If you're crazy then I'm twice as crazy. I've been practicing/training with airsoft pistols for years. I find them particularly useful if practicing on your own for practicing clearing, drawing and close range point shooting. I use a regular pellets when indoors shooting into a home made pellet trap and outdoors with bio degradable pellets shooting at metal plates nailed onto trees and screwed to a PVC pipe manikin.

My scale won't register anything under 5 # so I know it is lighter than that. It feels exactly like my CM9 - maybe a little lighter. So close you can't tell the difference. It is the P23, a replica and the same size as the Sig 232. They make a P25 which is a "blow back" which will probably a little heavier. I didn't want it because it takes CO2 to operate the slide which takes power away from the pellet. They say it cuts the number of shots from 80 to around 50 or so. I made a pellet trap from wood with a metal plate at 45 deg. in the back. Built it where I could slide my targets it without having to fasten them. I have a friend on the city police force. Asked him about shooting it in town and he said it is not considered a fire arm. As long as my neighbors don't complain, no problem and I have great neighbors.
