My two favorite "quotes" from the reasonings:

A new bill was just introduced in the Missouri state legislature that would send lawmakers who introduce anti-gun legislation to prison, a week after a group of Democrats from St. Louis introduced an Assault Weapons Ban—which will get
nowhere in the Republican-controlled state house.

In 2009, Montana lawmakers signed the Montana Firearms Freedom Act, which says that certain firearms and accessories made and sold within Montana are exempt from federal regulations, as they cannot be called interstate commerce.

I'm not so sure about these rankings....

Since the mag chooses the criteria they really get to semi-contol the outcome. Personally there are some states ranked way to high IMHO like Wisconsin.

Cool. My state made #7. Guess I'm not moving unless it's to Utah or Kentucky. Looks like the best. Utah has more open land so I guess that would be the place.

I guess Arizona could make the. I wouldn't have to mow the grass since it doesn't rain
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Being in Washington I can't comprehend the sentence it doesn't rain. How weird is that?

I think the percentage of gun ownership in my middle ranked state of Maine was a rad low but much like Texas we feel it's nobodies business what we have. but then again it could be northern Massachusetts ( southern Maine) that's brought it down. It really is two separate states, I can't believe we still claim them.

I am not surprised Illinios is #44. I noted how we are in the rankings with the east coast and not the midwest. I am always reminded of the line out of Red Dawn "You're in occupied territory". I am actually not far from St. Louis and since I catch their radio stations I do hear mostly Missouri politics. They being #9 isn't surprising. They do have the urban centers of St. Louis and Kansas City which always skews things left. Obviously Chicago drives what happens here.

Hey, in this part of the state, it doesn't rain much. Much more gun friendly than the part you are from too. We have the Pres of the NRA speaking at the Lincoln Day dinner next week. This county is a democrat free zone in public offices too.

I've been thinking alot lately about becoming your neighbor too. I've always aimed a little further east, Republic, Tonasket, but at this stage of the game, your area might be a better choice.

Wife can't go a day without going to town for something, there I can be "Out there" and yet still close to city stuff. The other places are a far piece from anything medical, where as your not so far off.

                    Consider me pondering.

This would be a good event to meet some of the locals for ya! http://chelancountygop.org/events/da...helanCountyGOP

I expect many gun friendly types will be there.

NV has no castle doctrine law, but case law is nearly 100% on the side of the home owner. Clark County has a new, appointed, district attorney who has publicly stated he will not seek the death penalty for any reason. In the past, as a city counsel member, he has been and outspoken opponent of guns, self defense and "assault weapons" (I hate that term.)

With 60% of the state population living here in Clark County, and a decidedly hostile anti-gun environment as compared to two years ago, I am surprised we scored so well.

I believe you must have a permit to purchase a handgun in NC, might be firearm period with one per permit on handguns and as many rifles shotguns as you like. My son and I stopped in a gun shop in Wadesboro and were blown away with the amount of firearms and the variety, but then I had seen the shops name on Gunbroker when I was looking for a Ruger Old Army.

I don't see GA moving up the scale soon but we are trying. And they have some info incorrect, in GA I can have a handgun in my auto without the "permit".

That "ranking" is just someone's opinion. Just like all the rankings you see of which city is the best to live in, etc.

The state(s) that I live in didn't rank that well, but are better (IMO) that some that did, and things are changing rapidly.
