Sure is quiet,....Yea too quiet....Looks like Dietrich's Village People thread is starting to peter out so I thought since his other Clint Eastwood thread did so well I would start something similar...How about this, there are 4 categories to choose your favorite movie from #1 Western movie #2 War movie #3 comedy and #4 Drama.....This is going to be hard because there are so many great ones but you only get one choice for each....The prize is an all expence (to be paid by you) weekend getaway to Dietrich's house for a nekid Easter egg hunt and deep fat fried possum cookin....So here goes.... my choices are, #1/Western.....The man who shot Liberty Valance #2/War movie.....Full Metal Jacket #3/Comedy.....Animal House and last and most difficult is #4/Drama.....Hurt Locker.....Y'all wanna play?....
" An armed society is a polite society".... Robert A. Heinlein

Western: Paint Your Wagon,(1969) Lee Marvin was terrific, and he sang!
War: The Big Red One,(1980) Lee Marvin was terrific.
Comedy: Cat Ballou,(1965) Lee Marvin was terrific - He won the Oscar
Drama: Hell in the Pacific (1968), Lee Marvin was terrific, as was Toshiro Mifune, my favorite Japanese Actor… especially in anything directed by Akira Kurosawa. Toshiro was sort of Japan’s “John Wayne.”
Lee Marvin was a terrific actor. The Big Red One and Hell in the Pacific are among my favorites that he starred in. I just got an urge to promote him a bit… terrific actor! You'll find that he was in a lot of the movies you mention in every category. PYW wasn't his best western, but it was different.
Most of these fall into two or three of these categories, and there were elements of each in all. JMHO.

Hey you started this, you make the rules, wanna hit the start over button? Change the mind button, go for it. Good thought on watching out for Nemo, them deep fryers can be hazardous to tools and such.

I better get the track schedule for Charlotte.

And Wyn, Lee Marvin was a real life hero as well. Hit the beach at Omaha with Capt Kangaroo. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Always wore a sweater cause his arms were heavily tatooed. Special forces.
Thus concludes our history lesson for today.

Ja Ja Ja Jimmy Stewart flew 20 combat missions over Germany as pilot of a B17 flying fortress....He was awarded several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross...He retired with the rank of Brigadier General....I think that actors back then were made up of better stock the those of today...Can't imagine Tom Cruise or George Cloony having the stones to fight for our country!!!:33:
