  • 1,000 dollar shopping spree.

Welcome to Fantasy Land! Here's my question to exercise your memory banks ward off the devils curse Ahlzeimers and hopefully have a little fun.

You inherit 1000 bucks. (sorry, this is make believe, nobody died, nobody likes you this much but play along). You have to spend it on a new gun or guns! Who thought this stuff up? You can add what money you have in your pocket as of this moment (I might as well not have pockets for the amount I got) to the 1000 bucks. It has to cover shipping, tax, license and dealer prep.

So what's the new gun/or guns gonna be? No proof of purchase required, don't give yourself a headache trying to proof you can get a gun for a certain price, just basic research. I guess we're creating a wish list. For me it's almost as tough as that question you have to scale down to 3 guns, what would they be. My wish list is 10x bigger than that.

I'm not gonna even start the list, don't want to stack the deck.

    Ready, set, go

~$1000 is what I've got and am planning to spend. I'll also need ammo, unless I buy a 9mm(I ALWAYS have an ammo stock for the cal. guns I own)

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Wow, I can do more with a thousand bucks... Ok here goes: Crickett rifle, laminated pink stock, and blued barrel/hardware ($160), Kahr CW-40 ($450), Moisin-Nagant 91-30 to play with later ($80), Taurus 651 ($300) and finally with the last bit of cash on my pocket a Rossi 462 ($300). With the exception of the Nagant, all are new in box too. If I had a couple of hours now to play with a used gun forum that I know of for TX then I could probably do better.

I've been known to build up a supply of ammo for a gun I don't even own. I use it in my arguments with the missus to justify a new gun. I'll resort to any dastardly and devious trick to get the necessary authorization.

Perhaps a nice SAS with the DAK trigger? I had a hankering for one of those quite awhile back. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea afterall. Rekindling wants I forgot I even had.
First one out of the shoot was a Dan Wesson which emphasized my desire for a Cbob but alas the 1000 ain't enough. Actually I found $3.78 cents in my pocket but still not enough...................Story of my life...................

I may have to try that, but then again I'm trying to cut the number of calibers I have. This is why I'd rather buy a 357 instead of a 38, and a 40 over a 9mm (actually, I've never been a big fan of the 9) and I can go for another 45. On the long side, 12ga are the only shotguns I have around here, and 308 is my preferred rifle caliber that I will buy right now, I do have 8mm, and 7.62x54R, I will stay with that and my 22's (rifle and pistol)

You've done well weedhopper, take all the time you need, the clock is not ticking. I love the Moisin Nagant, I just like holding and playing with mine. Haven't even shot it yet but she's a beauty. I actually have the rifle and the short rifle or carbine but I don't think they call it a carbine. Carbine is cleaner and nicer but the rifle makes me feel like Danl Boone, she's a long one. I think I was born a 100 or maybe 150 years too late.

I have one that I like the history with (it's just an old gun), my surrogate brother has one that he is sporterizing, and it is nice. I like old military bolt actions like that, though I think my next rifle may be a CETME if I can afford one. You would love my uncle to open his safe, many a flintlock in there. In fact I need to call him and remind him that should he get rid of that Jagger, I know a certain po' boy that'll give it a loving home... Back to at hand, I would love to find an M-44 carbine foe about a 100 or 150 again (Moisin carbine). I forgot to add that 75 feet and closer rock salt is potentially very lethal... and couple with some lime pepper, and garlic you have pre-seasoning for turkey, rabbit and anything else worth cooking...

Since its free money I would buy a complete kit and stripped lower to build an AR. Probably someone reasonable like rock river or somthing of about the same price range. I have been wanting to do this for a while and am pretty confident that with enough time and internet help I could pull it off. I have just had a hard time talking myself into dropping 700 or so on something I am not sure of. With whats leftover I would buy the necessary tools and maybe even squeeze in nightsights for my CW 45.

That's it M-44. I got mine at a local sporting goods store. I don't know if Big 5 is national or not. Paid right in that range too. Like a 130 bucks as I recall. Didn't see much use if any and has the bayonet and all that still attached. Nice. See em surplus now and then in magazines and on the internet. If I need to send my po boy address to your uncle for that Jagger be sure and let me know. It would be no trouble at all.

Wow, those are some heavy duty choices. Since I'm a simpler guy I would have to go for a 45 two tone Kimber 1911 with rosewood grips, to me is just a fantastic looking gun, maybe even a work of art.
Why is it that every time there is a shooting spree they want to take the guns away from the people that didn't do it? :59:

We do have Big 5 in West TX so maybe the next time I can sneak off the reservation and go to my roots in Abilene, or better still San Angelo, I can find one. I got kinda soured on the M16/AR15 platform as an armorer. Building one is easy, 23 springs total, hard part is getting the barrel right, but even that is easy with the proper tools. Most of the kits from Double Star are pretty nice, M&A sales has some good stuff too, kits run about 500, a lower could be had for 350 on the top end now they're still out there for less if you did a little research. Personally, if I HAD to have an AR platform, I would prefer either 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, or .458 SOCOM, the .308 rifles in the AR-10 platform are pretty nice too. I did see a DPMS in .300 RSAUM that I kinda thought might be fun too. Just my opinion though.

Ok let me see, I have the burning desire to own a 12 gage shotgun, this came to me in my sleep last night. When I woke up the gun fairy did not leave me a present! And to think I pulled out my tooth for nothing. I guess I would just have to buy a MK9 and a Remington 870 express tactical. I should have enough with the grand and a few bucks in my pocket. A little off the subject, but does anyone have any info on a shotgun they could share with me. What type, what brand, etc... and why. I would be using it for home defense and just incase SHTF.
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.

I'm a simple guy and my pump of choice is the old Mossberg 500. I like the controls better than the 870. If you go 870, I would not get the express, in fact I don't think there is an express tactical. If you get a police 870, I can't remember what they call it exactly you get alot of upgraded stuff. A lot of plastic stuff on the express is steel or alloy on the police one. Your tooth fairy leaves you guns??? I wanna live where you live.
