Lately I have rekindled my love affair with my 1911, didn’t shoot it for awhile because it needed a sear and disconnector but I got down to EGW guns down the road from me and got the parts I needed. Nice folks there and only 10 minutes from home how cool is that to have a gun parts manufacture that close. Since then I have been shooting it a lot, now for the longest time I have been shooting it with a short trigger for some twenty years or so. Now my buddy got a Remington R1 and I shot that with the long trigger and liked it. So today went back to EGW to get a long trigger and needed a over sized firing pin stop the one I had was to loose. Now I must say it’s nice to do business locally walked in and they remembered my name and I knew their names. So anyway after about an hour of fitting the new trigger dropped in place and another 30 minutes I had the firing pin stop fitted. The trigger has a squared shape to it and didn’t know if I would like it, so after getting it all back together and reaching for the new trigger it felt great. Now I just don’t want to say how much I’ve been shooting it but if they sold 45's by the brick I would have run out. HEY what can I say I love to shoot. So here’s some before and after pictures

Sweet, I've always heard good stuff about EGW too so your local to a good outfit it seems.
I've always preferred the long trigger too. Several real world operators I know prefer the short, and I could never understand why.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

In my case it's due to small hands.Originally posted by Bawanna View PostSweet, I've always heard good stuff about EGW too so your local to a good outfit it seems.

I have small hands also. I heard more than one mention that he liked the long trigger for range but for work he preferred the short. I could never get a definite answer as to why..http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

Well, for me the short trigger easily and automatically allows the pad of my index finger to engage the trigger square. Longer triggers involve a mite bit of conscious thought. Also, I get along well with flat square for target but much prefer broken edge for carry.NRA Benefactor

I never thought about before and I don’t have huge hands but I have long fingers, so I can over wrap my hand on the 1911. So what are regular sized hands anyway?Rest in peace old sailor Mike

5' 2"-5' 5" 105 lbs ex wives, yes multiple, have the same size hands as me.
It's just not right...
I usually can't reach the slide release on most guns.
And have to shift my grip.

I don't know about regular size but I do know that correct hands are usually attached to the right arm.Originally posted by Harrylee View PostI never thought about before and I don’t have huge hands but I have long fingers, so I can over wrap my hand on the 1911. I have noticed that some of my 1911s have different triggers. I only notice when I look at the gun, when they shoot I couldn't tell you whether the trigger fills the guard or whether it is how JMB designed it.
Am either insensitive or just like all guns. I love my Glocks too.“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.”

Larger than mine and Barth's. My last girlfriend's hands were smaller than mine, but then we went and got married.
I also use slim grips and an extended slide release on any serious use 1911.NRA Benefactor

I like the short trigger, because I have medium sized hands, but short fingers. In a golf glove I wear a men's medium cadet. The short trigger breaks when my trigger finger is perpendicular to the bore axis. That makes for better accuracy. It's a no brainer. That's something that Jocko should consider to shrink those one hole groups.

This is the only picture of my hand on the forum that I can find and that is on my cm9.If I put the web of my hand on the grip my fore finger goes too the end of the barrel. I have noticed even large gloves the fingers are too short

Well, you do know the old saying of a man's hands is a direct comparison to his... ummm... can't really say the "word" on this forum, but I'm sure know what I'm talking about.Originally posted by Barth View PostI'm 5' 9" and 170 lbs.

Could explain the multiple ex-wives.
Just saying.
Sorry, couldn't help that. You just left that opening and I couldn't pass it up!
