  • Stupid Range Rules

Allowing the rental/firing of fully automatic weapons and also restrict the firing rate to one shot per second for standard weapons. This rule is ignorant and stupid.

Fully auto I can see your point...not sure why on the one shot per second though. Please explain

When you rent full auto you can spray and pray. When you fire a semi auto weapon they mandate that you can only fire one round a second. I have seen folks fast firing shown the door.

Local range here which is very safety oriented allows fast firing IF you have demonstrated you hit the target every time. But it also has a 5 round in the magazine limit for all semi-autos, which is frustrating when you want to verify your carry pistol goes bang with a full mag.

Well, I guess it's time for me to chime in. Jocko pulled my string. The one shot per second rule is in place to prevent double taps. Noobs have a tendency to strike the target holders with their second shots and that can get damned expensive. Now I'm not saying that I'm fond of the rule. I just explaining he reason that it exists. One of the ranges that I visit posts that rule, but if you're a regular they don't enforce it. BTW, Jocko, you just made my list again. That's twice.

ur saying is the range owners punish 98%of the good people who know how to double tap due sto the stupidity of the utter 2% who don't. No indoor ranges here so I don't know the rules as ome have stated. If I know going intot he range their rules then I have no gripe but it shold be there in black and white for all to see to. I would hate it if I paid my money and had a lemon head like muggsy shooing next to me and farting double taps like a Thompson. they are just as deadly and distracting IMO. Just sayin.

Damn Muggs, I try for 1005 perfection with u, so I must have failed a few times TWICE WTF, thats nuttin

We have no rules at our range, only common sense. Went out the back door 20 feet from the safe room this afternoon and we shot with maybe 20 guns. Our longest targeting was at 120 yards.

1005 perfection? Did you mean 100% perfection? You've got a long way to go before you reach 100% perfection, lizard lips.

One of our local ranges charges $ if you hit the target holder too often. Seems more reasonable. But I guess a range can have whatever rules they like and we can go where we want.

One of ours only allows ammo you buy from them. It used to be the only indoor private range in reasonable distance. Haven't been back since some others opened.
                          Rest in peace Muggsy

I guess "when in Rome...follow their rules"...or go some place else. I use private club outdoor ranges where we do what we do. Otherwise I shoot IDPA and follow their rules. Rules are rules, like them or not. The more public that visit the range, the more rules there will be to follow (generally speaking). Stupid people result in stupid rules.

                              Stupid Range Rules

My local indoor range does not allow reloads, rapid fire or draw from holster and fire. Firearms may only be uncased at the firing line.

I'm not suggesting that these rules are stupid.
