  • Knife Thread !!

Was curious to how many of you knife nuts are out there..!! I'm sure its most of you guys but would like to see/hear what you're either carrying or what some of your favorites are.. both urban and woodsman

I used to carry either a fixed or folder (sometimes both) all the time, up til about a year ago I haven't really carried one, with the exception of my vic classic on my keychain : )

I have a decent array of knives and have tried a lot over the years but have a few favorites that just 'feel' right..

some of my favs in order of preference (never warmed up to large folders in the pocket)

    Folders:
Spyderco Chaparral, Sage 1, Delica 4, para 2 ... Kershaw Skyline, love this little cheapy, if it only had a wire clip= perfection

    Fixed urban:
Esee Izula, 3, Hest dpx, BK11 (no doubt any fixed blades crosses over to bush chores)

    Fixed woods:
Spyderco Bushcrafter uk, Junglas, BK9, and most always Tramatina Bolo..

or various blades I make (haven't thrown sparks in over a year now)

to keep your attention to this thread you don't have to make a detailed list, and pics are always welcomed... : )
    RIP Muggsy

I'm partial to knives. Mostly Gregs fault.

Here's one of the last knives I made for Ethan Beckers Competition, came in third place.. I was hurrying to get it done as I was moving and had procrastinated to the last minute.. Knife was put threw torture test and came back in one piece (some did not), bamboo is harsh on a knife let me just say...

I only own four knives. A buck folding hunter for hunting, a general purpose pocket for, you guessed it, general purpose use and a Carson Design M-16 -032 CRKT for when I run out of bullets. I also have a Chicago Cutlery 12" Bio-Curve Fillet knife for fish cleaning.

same here, knife-whore-galore, I have literally a box full of blades, like a moving box... some collector additions from way back, vintage pumas even, I have a fair share of customs not including my own make..

Basically I'm just looking for favorites that you would hand select to carry, or for the bush..

I'm basically just asking for favorites, mine are posted above and those are my go-to blades for the most part..

for example here are a few I had in rotation for a while (pic is about 2yrs old)
from top to bottom, kershaw skyline, buck pro vantage, spyderco sage, delica, and '71 puma jr.

these were part of an edc rotation... I would choose none of these for camp chores

I got a drawer full of them fish fileters. Other than that just utility knives: pocket folders and swiss army knives in all different sizes. The only one that really means anything to me is the Case pocket knife my dad gave me.

I guess I been bitten by the knife bug yet.

Here's one I made some time back from an old file and an Elk tine:

                              Right after quenching it (hadn't ground the tang to shape yet);

My forge at the time (only for heat treatment, I did stock removal) was just some firebricks and pavers stacked together (skillet was for the quench medium):

The heat source is a modified weed burner from Harbor Freight. I replaced the stock burner with a homemade one:

                              Regards,
                              Greg

BTW, that's some very nice work you've posted TheLastDaze
