I have 3 1911s, all the inexpensive ones. 2 RIA and one ATI bought recently. Mine have all shot really well.

My ATI commander size is now probably favorite size. Its my project gun now too. I've put 400 plus rounds through it now. Just doesnt like steel case ammo. My others will eat anything.

The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

      1. Remember proper trigger etiquette.

      2. Remember proper trigger etiquette.

      3. Remember proper trigger etiquette.

There's very little or no slop in the trigger, no take up to speak of. No forgiveness for sloppiness or adrenaline related errors. I know this to be true.

When you tug on the trigger something happens. And it's awesome.

Warning though. You might have a lot of safe queens when you get struck with the 1911 fever.

Dan Wesson was what I really wanted but couldn't swing the $$$. I do have a 3 inch Para that runs well but that seems to be the exception not the rule.
        Never owned a 1911.
        But I've rented a few.

I'm a Wilson mag guy too. Nothing but Wilson's in my carry rotation. Even my PM45 likes Wilson from time to time.

Yes, if you're going with the Range Officer Compact, buy it before the end of month : http://gearup.springfield-armory.com/Gearup.asp

If you can afford and find one, go with a Dan Wesson CCO.

I have a Kimber Ultra II CDP 3" that has never had any issues. In fact I actually shoot that gun as accurately as my 4" Ed Brown.

I've had a Colt Officer's ACP for quite a while and it's been reliable for me:

                      I picked up some 1991 Compact parts last year and after parkerizing them put the Compact slide, barrel, and some other parts on the OACP for testing and haven't felt a need to swap them back;

I don't run the stock dual recoil springs setup in mine. I put together something about six years ago and have run that since:

It's made from a reverse plug I bought from Clark (doesn't require any cutting of the slide, but I did need to drill it for the guide rod), the guide rod is from EGW, and the flat wire spring came direct from ISMI. http://forums.1911forum.com/showpost.php?p=2017581&postcount=6
EGW must have thought enough of it that they now offer a kit version on their website (they make a real good product): http://www.egwguns.com/index.php?p=product&id=81

                      Nice photos O'Dell
Now that, in all of it's plain-ness, is a beautiful piece of hardware. Pretty much looks exactly like what I would want, if I carried a 1911. Nice gun.

I think it needs a wide spur hammer and it would be perfect!

Alright.....let's throw this in the mix....a Sig P220 SAS compact 45. That is if you want super reliable quality....however not a 1911.

If it's got the DAK trigger I'll take it!

I've never been a Sig guy, they just don't work for me but I've long wanted a 220 SAS w/dak trigger. Not even sure why but that happens often.

I'm just the opposite because I favor traditional DA/SA triggers in SIG's, HK's and S&W 3rd gens. After my classic nickel 1995 P220 was stolen I bought a modern one with the DAK trigger. I didn't like the trigger at all and the new pistols with the SS slide are heavier - 25 vs 30 ozs. Fortunately, the stolen P220 was recovered in great shape so I sold the new one.
