Some of my very best friends I've never met and most I don't even know what they look like.

The photo in this thread is the first time I've ever seen what Jocko looks like. And I haven't confirmed yet that it actually is Jocko. No matter really.

I still miss and think about our old friend Dietrich all the time. Never had a clue what he looked like and I couldn't have picked him out of a line up if my life depended on it. When we finally saw a photo he was nothing at all like I expected. Same with Jocko too.

A little sentimental isn't a bad thing Redstate, we just need to try and keep it manly. Cept Jocko of course, he dances to the beat of his own drummer.

Often thought of a big Kahrtalk get together but my coworkers (not the violets, who cares what they think) and even my wife sometimes aren't certain it's a good idea.
They claim I'm an a--hole in real life. Maybe so. I try to be nice.

      You would be surprised.

The first message board I registered for & started posting actively was a Texas sportsboard, then a Las Vegas board - both before the turn of the century (how's that for sounding old?). Gun boards came somewhat later.
Those boards have gone by the wayside & evolved into others, such is cyberlife.

The sports boards have been good places to let off steam, but the Vegas boards actually became more social with face to face meets between scores of posters from all over. Those reached a peak about 12-13 years ago and have tapered off considerably, with big catered gatherings in Vegas of 70-80 people - some from Canada, Hawaii, & the UK - down to 15-20. Many of us have become good friends, sharing in family news, reporting on Vegas trips & meets, and even visiting others' homes.

Mrs. Armybrat & I have hosted in our home one poster & his family from the UK several years ago, and another lady from there who was recently widowed. The Brit fellow bought a an old country farmhouse & barn in central France last year and flew my widowed son & two little grandsons over for a one month visit in the summer. The wife & I will be going over ourselves next year when he's finished renovating, plus we'll stay a while with the widowed lady back in England.

There are a number of the Vegas board posters who live in Texas, and we have had a few "mini-meets" in Houston & Austin.

Of course a number of our group have splintered off to other boards, Face Book, disappeared, or passed on to the Great Casino In The Sky.

Or it could be he meant he was among a bunch of nipples and misspelled it as Naples.

I hate he's not on line to enjoy all the entertainment we are having at his expense.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
