  • Wear Marks -- A Truck Lover's Thread

Thought I'd post a pic of Big Red. 8 years old and still standing tall. But if you look close enough it's covered with dings, dents and scratches. Just like my firearms, I consider them character marks and proof that it's a working truck and I'm getting my money's worth. And, just like my firearms, I keep it cleaned and lubed and serviceable. Because I use it every day.

I'm pretty pleased that it's still looking so good. Then again, if I was only 8 years old, I might look good too.

Dings and dents are just the patina on a classic.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

You should see our company trucks. Dings, dents and dirt seem to abound when the drivers don't own the vehicles. They have "patina" on them in weeks.

Nice I've got a red Ford (2003) with wear marks sitting in my driveway.

I don't recollect I ever owned a truck that was only 8 years old.

Them's some pretty trucks. Must be tough to keep em shiny down there in the desert huh Greg?

I hope to see some more pics. They don't have to be red...or pretty. Just trucks!

I learned to drive on a farm in a 1953 Ford Pick-up when I was fourteen years old. The last year for the flathead V-8 engines. Two hundred thirty nine cubic inches of pure brute power.

^^^ ^^^ they do bring back memories don't they muggsy? A buddy's dad always had a red Ford pickup. Really cool guy: had an apple orchard and grape vines, made cider and wine, grew a huge garden, let us get drunk at the local electrician's annual picnic...

Those trucks are practically new compared to my 27 yr old 1988 Jeep Comanche 4x4. It has some wear marks, and even some deer dents but can still work hard!

^^^ that one reminds me of a good friend, CRB. I helped him fix a cracked thermostat housing and some other stuff if I recall.

P.S. Is that how you get the dog to go outside in the winter to take care of his business?

He follows me no matter where or the weather... But he does appreciate having a clear spot pushed out for that purpose when the snow pack starts getting to be +feet deep

                            '99 Ford Ranger - 3.0 V6 - 247,000 miles
Still gets 26mpg on the highway, and about 21 about town

No pictures, but its showin' its age. Paint is just beginning to go south in places... it happens.

Bought with 43,000 on it, for a whoppp'n $7000 two years old. It doesn't owe me one cent, or one mile for that matter.

Little Blue, the truck before Big Red was a 3.0 Ranger, 4wd, manual shift, no a/c. I drove that one until the Ohio rust took it's toll. This one seems to be holding up much better. Good stuff!
