  • Interesting Statistics for the curious

I just received a report from NICS, the place all back ground checks end up. It goes back to 1999.

It gives the number of back ground checks per month by state.

    Just the highlights.

Kentucky hands down had the most with a low month of 393,583 and a high month of 422, 343.

The People Republic of California had a low month of 91, 975 and a high month of 136, 228.

My state of Washington had a low month of 41, 040 and a high month of 66, 587.

Just glancing Alaska had by far the fewest.

I was a bit surprised with the California numbers, even though they are tight on restrictions (not much worse than us now) they apparently still want their guns.

If you want the numbers from your state, let me know and I'll post it.

How did Alabama and Tennessee compare to Kentucky? That’s interesting about Kentucky.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Would it be to much to ask to see all of them for comparison?

I'll see if I can get it so it will fit properly on a page. I kind of had to push it around to see all the months and states.
It's all at work so I'll see what I can do next week.

Bud’s is in Kentucky, and their website boasts 2.8 million customers since 2003. That’s about 14,500 a month on average. That’s 483 sales s day, or a sale every 3 minutes. It’s not all guns, though.

I’d like to see Florida’s numbers.

Buds ships all over the country though so those 2.8 million add to all the individual states.

Florida has a low of 78,804 and a high of 137,997.

It would be interesting to know how Kentucky’s is so high as that’s not a heavily populated state and much of it is rural. There must be some contributing factor

I have read it is one of the most gun friendly.

That being the case I maybe should set up a still. Sounds like a profitable business.

Somehow I forgot you live in WA. How are the gun owners dealing with the onerous new laws passed in the last election? WA and OR were once great states before the CA outcasts moved in and brought their politics with them.

We're still absorbing and trying to interpret the newest ones. Now all semi auto's are considered assault rifles, even your 10/22.
Required class to be able to buy one and have to be 21. 18 can still buy a bolt action etc.

Still haven't figured out if the class is required for CPL's. And no mention of it on hand gun purchases.

No word on where these classes might be or what the requirements might be. It 's right up there with building a football stadium with no place to park.

Don't matter, I'm not taking no class, I'll figure out a way around it.

If it's required for a CPL, guess I'll be an outlaw, always wanted to be one anyhow.
