      • Well boys and girls I built up my courage and did an evnash. Not quite sure it's up to his level but it's good enough that I threw away my innertube.

Of note, before I actually tried the stippling I took a tip similar to the one he was using and just drug it along the lines of the cheese grater and just kind of melted off the points. This act alone did away with the need for the innertube and looked good too. I of course couldn't leave well enough alone so I stippled my mag bases which gave me a no doubt false sense of confidence. Then went after the sides of the grip which went really well. Then of course I had to take the front and back strap. I'm not done with those last two but it feels darn nice, don't seem to bite, I'll know more after I shoot of course.
        Evidence photos.

Just like grammar school I went outside the lines a couple times but it will be easy when I really have my mind right (good luck with that) and focus I can make it right. A little more work on the front and backstrap. Trying to stipple over the cheese grater is a little more challenging. I think I'll flatten it out more and then stipple again. That's the beauty of this tupperware melting, if your not happy just keep melting until it pleases you or its all melted and you have to order a new frame.
Bring on the ridicule. I'm a novist tupperware melter.

        • Nice job, Bawanna. Have you looked at pictures of stippling by Robar and others? This style that you and evnash use looks different than those professional jobs. I wonder if they use a different tool or just a different method of working the polymer.

I took the Qwik-Grip off of my CM9 and put two carefully sized strips of hockey stick tape over the cheese graters. Looks like it belongs there. Matches color wise perfectly with the polymer. With it pressed down on the graters, you can still see and feel them, but it tames them. I would like to have a little more traction on the sides without making the grip wider. I'm thinking about using carefully trimmed Traction grips on the sides and trimmed to reveal the logo, just covering the areas that are already textured.
          Very interesting...

good job man! glad i could help you out. once you get the hang of it you will find tons of stuff around the house that need to be stippled. Flashlights, Playstation controllers, beard trimmers (useful when you buzz your bald head like i do) etc

That exact thought went thru my head. There won't be a smooth surface left in the house. I hope I don't stipple my head, it's pretty smooth too.

I was surprised how fast it went. All total I bet I didn't play for half an hour. I'm pleased with the sides and may even add a bit more. The front and back strap need a little more attention but I got a plan.

Thanks for giving me the little push to have at it. I hadn't seen your little video before I did my mag bases. I cranked up kahrtalk to look at the pictures of yours and then saw the video. Found I was doing pretty much the same thing so figured I was close to being on track.

                • OK I'm stupid, couldn't move my pictures from the February thread over here so I'll just trip up the crystal ball and post em again over here. I feel the need to make amends for posting those horrible pictures in # 143. I was proud but after looking again I did a pretty poor job.
So here's the same gun after makeover # 2.

                    • Baby steps scoundrel, baby steps. It took 3 years of personal one on one tutoring from Old Lincoln before I could post a picture. Now I gotta learn what to do with all them buttons on the camera. Apparently auto isn't the correct mode.

                      • "Auto" is the mode I use most often. But, I often tell the camera to "try again" on the focus 5 or 6 times before I let it go ahead and take the picture.

                        • Time, it's all about time. I get lucky sometimes but sometimes in my haste to brag and show off I get in a hurry. Plus I feel like something the cat drug in today so my efforts were very weak I'm afraid.

                          • Bawanna, I found a nice metal full size tripod with multiple levels and adjustment features for just $14. That will take care of the focusing issue, which is worse when taking pictures indoors with limited light. Now, I need to get off my lazy butt and take some pics. I'll definitely do it when I get my J-frame back from Ahlman's.

                            • Baby steps, Time, and Laziness. I have a couple tripods of different heights, always used them for spotting scopes when I shot outside. Never hung the camera on one but I surely will next time. Most of my pics are inside, to much work and too many trips to do much outside.

Anything else? I got an excuse for most anything.

I told the missus I should get a S&W 1911 like Greg got, she stuck her tongue out at me and used unlady like language, BUT on the same day she took some old scrap jewelry to one of them gold buying places. Got over 800 big ones. AND she gave me half!!!! Had it 2 days now but I been sick...........
