Wyns around, was out of town for a while and just busy now.

Ryoung I fear has left the building much to my dismay.

There was a bit of a to do on one of the threads, and some one got their feelings hurt. He said bye, and deleted his posts.

that is what happened, as I have learned as a long time poster on this forum and on some others even, that if you come on these forums with your feelings on the tip of your fingers, you willnot last long. One needs to count to 10 if possable and if that doesn'thappen, just back off for a few days. These are good forums normally but every once in awhile a real troll appears and wants to stir sh-t. you jsut gotta look past that person and hope the forum MODS are watching and doing their job.

he may be back someday, one never knows. Life does go on to. I was a 5000+ poster on the kt forum and when I left it, I think they missed me "maybe" ONE DAY..

I for one still miss him, be that as it may and I certainly wouldn't use the word troll and ryoung in the same sentence.
Thru a series of circumstances he decided to move on, I say we just let it lie, hope he comes back one day with some fresh funnies and we all move on.

Don't want this to ferment and start to boil over and instigate discord and stuff.

not sure I even referred to ryoung as a troll even, as that was not my point. I nver had one issue with him and we PM-ed a few times . I probably would not have known he was even gone had threads not popped up about him missing in action.

Perhaps I read it out of context and no matter. It's all good.

He posted a very sincere goodbye, and of course some folks had to throw some crap at him for leaving, so the moderator closed that thread. I respected his opinions and am sorry he is gone.

Jocko, you are correct, but sometimes you just have to step away. I don't know any facts of this particular riff, but I was on a forum concerning Harleys a couple of yrs ago. It was great at first, but then certain " new to the forum" members started laying in wait for post they didn't like and would jump in and mercilessly attack whoever posted. Sometimes it was a new member who didn't know that his question had been asked many times before.
Instead of helping him, he was just attacked. I finally got tired of it, and just left. I think others did too.

Typical AR15.com... If you don't have a zillion posts and a join date older than three years? Expect to be called a noob/troll.

Yeah, riiiiiight... Someone is SO much cooler because they've wasted that much more of their lives on some stupid internet forum and have garnered quite a superiority complex about it...

As long as I have the slightest influence in matters around here (and I have very little) you can be assured no new guys will be mercilessly attacked or put down.
We have to realize that part of a growing forum is new members all the time. Many of the things we've talked about have been talked about a 100 times already. How much is there to talk about when you get down to it.
To me thats why we have to step outside the box now and then and chat about other stuff while still helping new gun people and people new to Kahr, and Auto Ordnance, Thompson and now MRI.
Nobody here has all the answers but as a group I'd bet we're a force to be reckoned with.
In my experience we have more trouble with new guys coming on board and whining because we get off topic or don't stay totally serious like some of the other forums. Some I understand are frustrated, they have a gun issue so they come here for answers and maybe get joked with or don't get a quick response. Once they get an answer they just drift. That's ok too. I don't visit other forums unless I'm sent there via a link for info or whatever. Don't belong to any others, nor do I feel the need to join any others, although there are a few that sound interesting.
I feel very fortunate that JohnH and JustinN give us a certain amount of free reign and allow us to operate outside the box if you will.
All in all we're a pretty civil and friendly bunch. Things rarely get out of hand or downright ugly and hopefully we can keep it that way.
We were all new guys once and even the guys that have been here since inception learn from new guys. About the time you think you have all the answers, they change the dang questions anyhow. Keeps us guessing.
I like to think we're a step above just any ordinary "stupid internet forum", I know we're several step above many others, people have told me so.
Like momma says stupid is as stupid does, or some such thing.

it is also part of all internet forums. You have some who because of high post counts think they own it and some who just come to stir things to. I have seen um both, I can't explain why some people do what they do but we are all different in our thoughts and the way we transfer our thoughts in writing. I have always hated it to when a new guiy comes on and ask a question and is told, "do the search fella this post has been discussed a hundred times". Personaly I have never used the "search", maybe I should but I bet 90% of members don't use the "search" and I do feel it is perfectly ok to re ask a question, as who knows we might get a new different answer than was given a month or so ago.

Some people wear their feelings on the tip of their fingers to and get set off very easily. I really don't think any forum person intends that to happen but once the fuse is lite, then it seems the MODS have to solve it.

It is just gonna happen, we can't get away from some of this either. I have learned over the years "from posting alot and getting hammered also," that if you aren't prepared to take some heat, then don't get close to the oven..

It is far easier for me now to just read a post and if it pissies me off, I just ignore it and that poster for ever. If we all did this to, normally that person either settles down or just moves on. But as we know and read, we all react differetnly to an "incorrect" post.

I have been on the AR15 site in the kahr section and those guys for me were good guys to, I just went with forum from the git go and for me it is the best. We do seem to try to amuse each other along with trying to help a person to. I thought I knew quite abit about kahrs but this forum has shown me that I still have alot to learn.

I really do feel we have some brilliant guys here. I have pm-ed ryoung a few times and we chatted and he seemed like an ok guy to me. I must have missed where he got alittle bent out of shape and decided to move on. I thought also his leaving was dignified and the mods replys were also that way. Who knows maybe he will come back, as I have a feeling he is reading this forum yet and knows that no one meant any real harm either.

Probalby 35+ years ago, I might have been called a Ryoung to, as I back then worn my feelings on the tips of my fingers, today though my fingertips are very calised from all that crap and I tend to let some things just pass---especially on the internet.

Now though, please don't make fun of my Harley's or Harley Davidsons, as that has been known to rip the calises right off my fingers .!!!!

oh my,,, time for a milk shake..

Heh guys ejoy CHRIST-MASS for what the words really mean.

I find communication via these "flat screens" is more difficult that face to face conversation. There is no tone of voice or facial expression to help you discern meaning of words written. That is the primary reason I make use of the smiley's to help with my intent when I post.

I am not familiar with the thread that got to ry but I thought his exit from kahrtalk was well written. I also thought some of the reply posts were pretty classless but again, it is hard to discern sarcasim on a flat screen.

I say he'll be back to show off his next Kahr purchase. I certainly hope so anyway. Dusty

If the day ever comes when attacking a new member for asking a redundant question is tolerated it will be time for me to say adios.I feel that our main objective here is to pass on solid information concerning firearms,Kahrs in particular. Back before I ever purchased a Glock,I researched them extensively.I kept coming across the "Glock Kaboom" issue and went on their forum to ask about it.I was immediately attacked by a couple of their sphincter police and I responded in kind. Finally, one of their more sensible members chastised them for their actions and welcomed me to the forum and answered my question.I like my Glock handguns but I still don`t care for their forum. What we have here is a much more helpful and friendly atmosphere.I hope we never lose it.
In the area in which I now reside, when I`m placed in a group of four or five guys,I`m known as "the smart one".God help me.
