I moved up from a 5 shot snubbie revolver and 2 speed loaders, so I feel very well equipped with the 6+1 mag on my CW40 with a spare 7 shot magazine.
I guess a lot depends on where you go, what's the crime rate is in your area, and other variables. If I'm going to be in rougher areas of my town, I often carry a 12+1 .40 Beretta Cougar with 2 spare mags, but that requires at least a light jacket to hide it well. I don't go there often, but one of my Dr.'s office is in a rough neighborhood, which is kind of a ***** because of the no gun rule at the Dr.s office. I just hate locking my weapon in the trunk and walking in there "naked".

HY*NDAI is to cars, what Caracal, Hi-Point, and Jennings is to handguns. The cars may or may not run ok, but the corporation SUCKS.

I started out carrying a S&W 642 as my one and only carry pistol. I carried that little 5 shot with no extra ammo for a couple years. I might have been undergunned but I didn't notice. I did know that if I had to draw that I would make sure every round counts.

As long as you are proficient with your firearm you should be fine. Would a second mag be a good idea...sure.

I felt the same way so I recently upgraded from a S&W mod 36 revolver 5 shot to a K9. Just practice lots and learn to make every shot count. I'd only consider a +15 round weapon if I routinely travelled through hostile territories.

So far I've felt OK with 7 + 1 in my P9. It's like garyb said: "It's a lot better then nothing" which is what the Liberals want us to carry. My fight plan is to just point-pray-spray as I try to put distance between me and whatever might have made me fear for my life.

I might add that while today most single stack 1911s are 8 + 1 the original confiquration was 7 + 1 for decades. While my little P9 is not a 1911 it's more likely to be on my person then a 1911 and it will make noice just as many times as the original.
