funny how things change over the years. The colt python in my gun dealing says 40 years ago, was certainly not a good seller at all. It was expensive even back then, so most people shyed away form it. Police did not carry it either. We didn't sell many but I certainly remember the 4 and 6" versions in the high lustre blue finish that you could actualy see yourself in the finish and the nickel finish was the same. Today it is a gun we seem to droll over. Course maybe I am posting to so many younger people that were not around 40+ years ago or still ****-ing in their diapers yet. How many can remember the K22 AND k38 Masterpeace Smiths back then. Or the Model 41 with the dovetailed extended sliding front sight. Or the fabulous High Standard line of 22's, Supermatic citations. with fluted barrels back 40 years ago. Unheard of back then. B They had the finest line of 22's on market back then or the ever beaautiful Browning Medalist. oh my those were the days my friends and the one thing about all the above guns that I mentioned ALL THOSE FOKKERS WORKED PERFECT OUT OF THE BOX..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Had the Python.... nice, but I never really bonded with it. If anyone sees a matte hard chrome 4" out there, that was mine!

Also had the Detonics. Finicky to the max. I got mine working. It went to Detonics once to have the receiver altered for function (they cut the ramp wrong). It was "ok". I like the sight arrangement and the cut out of the slide. The recoil mechanism is ok on those too. Ya need to keep STIFF spring in the magazines for them to work. I sold it to finance my house. If anyone see's a Detonics out there, that has had its slide surface ground absolutely flat and parallel, re-engraved, and engine turned on the entire slide, slide stop, trigger, safety and mainspring housing.... hehehe... thats my old pimp gun.

I sure wish manufactures would bring some of the old favorites back, along with the quality that went into them.

Amen to that brother. Sadly we live in an age of junk. Cars, houses, some guns, tools, you name it. We've been conditioned to accept inferior stuff.
Alot of it's money, we refuse to pay big bucks for quality stuff so we buy inferior stuff out of necessity. The people making the stuff want big wages and benefits just like everybody else. Just a big vicouse circle that I fear can't be reversed.

An excellent analogy would be gas. Imagine if every man and woman in America didn't buy gas for a week. Gas would be back to less than a buck a gallon. But it'll never work, a week without driving the car, ain't gonna happen.

This could very easily turn into a one that got away thread too, and like I said, I've had plenty that got away, and miss all of them, but will move forward with life.
As for the quality aspect, remember, everyone from producers to consumers likes the lowest dollar. That is the most basic of economics right there, figure out how to make a quality product, at a bottom dollar price point and watch it fly, but until then, that's the game.

High Standard 22. Can't remember the exact model but it was extremely accurate. Wasn't mine but my dad's. Never knew what happened to that gun. Wish he would have kept it.

Allow me to add the S&W 6906 pistol to my list of missed opportunities. This was a 3rd generation 9mm, bobbed hammer double stack.

Willie, I believe if you pick up a copy of Shotgun News, that J&G has some of those very pistols for sale. I know some one in there did, and since I sit at work waiting for the EPA to show up and inspect us, I can't look it up. You may also try Bachmann Pawn and Gun up here in Garland, they have bunches of stuff. There was another place that O'Dell pointed me to on another thread, I think the first range trip or the another first range trip.

I had a bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket and was looking at a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry. Boy was she pretty! But I already had a single stack Glock .45, so I bought a Daniel Defense AR15 instead since I didn't have any long guns. I made the right choice, but still think about that Kimber every so often.

You can still keep that Kimber on your wish list. They are still out there. There's several in the Kimber line that I'd like to call my own. I like the raptor but there are several.

Me too. I just like guns. Here's a pic of the first 3 I bought. Don't have them anymore. Kind of wish I hadn't sold the SP101, but I'm moving more toward high capacity semis for the apocalypse.

And the Security Six. I see you took off the factory GP-100 grips in favor of the smaller ones for fixed sights. I love my 4" GP-100, and would love to acquire an SP-101.
I see beans in those wheels, good way to keep them.
