  • Concealed carry in banks.

If you legally carry a concealed handgun you should be aware that it is illegal to carry in a bank.Fine,I don`t carry when I go into the bank. But what if I go to the drive-thru window? Technically,I`m not inside the bank but I am at a teller`s window. Is it still illegal to carry?
Here`s another question regarding a bank.I live in a suburb of Raleigh,N.C..Over the last decade or so ,banks have started opening mini-branches in grocery stores. At these stores there is no sign prohibiting the carrying of firearms. Now I know I can`t walk up to the teller`s window while I`m carrying but because there is a bank in the grocery store, does that make the entire store a gun free zone? The answers will have to come from the N.C.Department of Justice but I wanted to bring these questions to my friends attention so we all can be well informed. Our cc privilige is a delicate one and I don`t want mine to be destroyed by an anti-gun politician over a technicality. What do y`all think?

That must be a NC law Dietrich.

There's no law in my state that prohibits CCW in a bank unless a sign prohibiting weapons is posted at the door.
All the banks here are federally insured but privately owned and are treated like any other private business.
Maybe some states have different laws.

I do carry, concealed, when I go to the bank BTW, and know people who open carry without a problem.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

No law here in Mass. (Can you believe it!) And I carry in banks all the time. I do feel a little squidgy about it sometimes and really check myself ahead of time to make sure I'm not printing or flashing.

I carry concealed into US Bank, they do not have a sign prohibiting this. I left Fifth Third Bank because they prohibit firearms. This is in accordance with Ohio law.

no problem in Texas, unless the bank posts at the entrance the proper sign, of the proper size, proper color contrast and letter size, and exact wording per statute. The same sign is required for any private establishment that wishes to legally bar licensed conceal carry. Other than a very few other places, concealed carry is pretty open for Texans.

I`ve just been informed that Branch Banking and Trust here in North Carolina has posted signs stating "To report anyone with a firearm on bank property call 1-800-***-**** ] By the time me and my troops get through playing games,I`ll actually feel sorry for the people at that 800 number. No false reports mind you, just what our imaginations can cook up.I for one, have a very fertile imagination.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Now if a person went into a bank and tried to relieve them of some of their Ka-Ching then it becomes a federal offense.
The best plan would be to follow cincinnati's advice and change banks.

In this state it would do no good to change banks. You can`t legally carry in any bank, period. Some even have metal detectors that you have to pass through. The screws and pins in my right leg set one of the damned things off once.I did not accept their apologies graciously.Didn`t get ugly, mind you, that`s not in my nature.Just let them know that I was not "amused".

                      Hmm..That is a bummer.
                      What about credit unions?
I belong to one that has about the same services as the banks.
But they may have the same gun restrictions in your case I guess?

In OK you can carry almost anywhere unless there is a sign posted saying you cannot. Some banks in my state allow concealed carry but virtually all require you to remove hats, hoodies, sunglasses as you enter.

If not service will be dennied and if you make the mistake of coping an attitude you will soon be talking to not so friendly LEO's and probably arrested for tresspassing.

                            That's definitely a bad deal.
Only one solution I know of..Just load up and move over somewhere around Dollywood.
