the three regulars are CW9 in my headboard, mrs surv has her KT P32 on her side, and then there's my daily field carry SP101 357 on the TV table at the foot of the bed.... and my trusty sidekick, Guinness the "totally chicken" doberman on the bed. On rare occassions there may be a Sig, Kimber or other in place of the CW9, but not often. At least one shorty shottie stays at the ready in my office at the other end of the house.

p.s. for those that fear causing "spring fatigue" by leaving magazines loaded up in semi-autos.... that's a total myth concerning modern springs. It just don't matter if the springs are fully extended or fully compressed compressed.... the fatigue is only caused my the process of compression/decompression, i.e. heavy usage or even loading/unloading. You actually do more harm (which is miniscule anyway) by unloading the mags for "storage".

Not in the nightstand, but well hidden in the bedroom. HK USP 40 with 14 rounds of HST and night sights, plus an extra 13 round mag. It's a bit large to carry but makes a perfect home defense pistol.

For my office/kitchen/living room, a S&W Chief's Special CS45 with 7 rounds of Golden Sabers and a spare mag.

I think my burglars are in jail, but if they come back when I'm here, they won't leave intact.

Where do you keep your burglars? Wherever it is, you're doing a fine job.

Being new, welcome, BTW, you probably don't know that I had two burglaries in August, 2010, and again in February, 2011. I lost a total of fifteen pistols, some of them quite valuable. The local police arrested two guys breaking into a house in a nearby subdivision in June, and although they can't tie them directly to my break ins, they think they are the ones. Two of the guns have since been recovered, one I wanted back, a collector nickel SIG P220, and one I didn't care that much about, a Springfield XD c 45. All is good however, since I traded the XD on a Kimber Ultra Carry two days ago.

The "I think I heard something" gun is a 4" GP100 w/ .38 wadcutters... 2 of them actually, a stainless one is mine and a blued one is hers.

The "WTF was that?!" gun is Mossberg 500 Cruiser American 12 ga, ammo varies.

M&P 9 with Federal 115 gr JHP, cocked and locked. Usually my EDC is also there. The EDC isn't final. I rotate btw the PM9, LC9 and P238

Incidentally, springs don't age or wear out from constant tension or relaxation. Its repeated compression and decompression cycles which do it. You can leave a mag loaded for years without ill effects.

I know I read that somewhere?
But what you're saying makes total sense.
Looks like I learned something new (and good)!
                              Thanks
