Good information all. I looked at the BSA and Mueller sights and am still leaning toward the Nikon. My next question is if I bought the Nikon ProStaff for .223/5.56, could I also use it on my .22?

I have the BSA Sweet 17 on my Savage 17HMR. Real decent for the money.

I had the Silver Simmons on my Model 60 too for many many years. I finally gave it to a friends kid. Never had a problem with it and I shot that one a lot over the many years I had it.

The Nikon of course is on a much higher plain than either of those and you do indeed get what you pay for usually.

I like that AK Les, just what I got circling around in my brain. Like wood.

If you are leaning Nikon Prostaff, I would get the one made for rimfire rifles like this:

Most rimfire scopes are set for parallax at 50 yds rather than 100.

Thanks Bawanna. It is one of my favorites, Like I said before, buy one now as they are going up quick! My LGS can't keep them in stock. I have not had one hiccup out of hundreds and hundreds of rounds of cheap steel-cased Tula and Monarch ammo. I know you could make the wood look even better than mine.

Many moons ago I set-up a 10-22 with a Nikon Buckmaster (?) 3X9 with a 50mm bell. I mouted it up on a Leapold base and some tall rings as that fit my co workers face. He needed tall rings to get a cheekweld without canting his head. He had comlained that the gun was not accurite with the little fixed 4X Simmons he had on it. I don't doubt that as the scope fit was low and goofy. He lives in a Trailerhouse on 5 acers in the boonies NW of me and needed a varmint .22 "handy gun".
I sighted the combo in, and it was quite the tack driver at 50 to 75 yards. My coworker states that the 50mm Nikon is like have a night vision scope. It sees better than his bare eyballs in the dark. Skunks, possums, coons and cyotes have all fallen to the little gun over the years. You would never get that combo away from him now, fer-sure.
Nikons are nice, I love my 10X50 binoculars, I use them like a spotting scope.
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
          "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
          "more stuff than you are"

Well, I found a $50 rebate on the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire, so I ordered it from Amazon.com. That makes it even better.

I have Leupold scopes on all of my rifles and my slug gun. Leupold makes excellent variable power scopes ranging from 1X4 to 3X9 for .22 rifles that are parallax free at 60 yards. I had a 3X9 on a .30-06 that was damaged in a fall. Leupold repaired it at no charge even though I was responsible for the damage. Leupold more than stands behind their products.

If you use the scope on anything other than a .22 make sure that it has enough eye relief. Most girls don't look good with half moon scars over their right eyebrows. You being the possible exception.
