I had a compact XD45 and didn't really care for it. I think I'll keep the CW45 and not worry about it. It seems that everyone's shooting at Kahr's lineup, but I still prefer the original.
The CW45 and XD-S are pretty close in weight (magazine included in all weights):
My CW45 goes 21.99oz empty and 27.17oz loaded
My XD-S goes 21.75oz empty and 26.19oz loaded
Kahr lists the P45 at 20.5oz empty and the PM45 at 19.3oz empty

Measured from the bottom of the trigger guard to the bottom of the mag:
    My CW45 goes 2.6" (with a modified Officer's mag 2.3")
    My XD-S goes 2"
Measured top of the slide to the bottom of the magazine:
My CW45 is 5.1" (with a modified Officer's mag it drops to 4.8")
    My XD-S is 4.3"

My LGS finally got one in for me to fondle. Pretty neat but for me I think I would only use it if I wanted to pocket carry and had to have a .45, if I was going to carry traditioanl IWB I'd probably stick with my CW45 or Glock 23. When I used to try to carry my CM9 IWB I couldn't quite get enough grip to draw it quickly. Just my experience though, I'm not saying I would be upset if the misses bought me one.

I saw one of those in the rental case at the range a few weeks ago. I took my PM40 to the range today for a function check after modifying and polishing the extractor claw a bit. I thought it would be a good chance to try the new Springfield single stack 45, so I rented the XDS45 and bought a box of Atlanta Arms & Ammo 230-grain TCJ... Total Copper Clad Jacket... to shoot in it. That cost me $28 and some change including the tax. The rental was $10 and the ammo $17.

I took some pictures and video of me firing it and pulled some stills for the flashes and recoil, which wasn't bad at all... less than the ported P40.

The grip seems a little longer, front to back and after one quick mag, I put my glove on my shooting hand because I was worried that the nibs might rub too much. The sights aren't bad... red FO in the front and white dots on the rear. I tended to jerk the shots and not do much "fine" aiming. I could stay on paper... or mostly on the paper or cardboard with my left hand. I think that I got cross-eyed on aiming! At 15 yards I did pretty well, considering that I don't aim very "hard". They only gave me one magazine so that took some getting used to reloading after only 5 shots. The Mag UpLULA really helped, as usual.

I don't see one of these in my collection, but I thought I would try one. I like my PM45, though I would like to have a P45, too. I've been carrying the P40 a bit and a P45 would only be a tad thicker.

I'll post a thread with the pictures in a bit. But I'll go ahead and post this before I "lose" it.

I thought I had policed up some .45 brass along with some of my .40, but on closer inspection, I only have one .45 case and I'm not sure it's from the XDS. I remember that the brass was hitting the right wall inside the field of fire and I couldn't get any of it. I remember being distracted by the brass rolling on the floor to the right front. There was one empty lane between me and the right wall.
The one case I picked up has a firing pin mark reminiscent of a revolver with a slightly rectangular pin at the impacting tip.

I think they had an assortment of these for sale... SS slide $629 and $675 for all-black, but I'm not sure, since I didn't really see if they were XDS's.

I thought I would like this pistol but I will keep the CW45. The only major problem is that the gun is not made in the US. I know for most this is not a deal breaker but is important to me. Just my 2 cents.

I have wondered about it. I do want my guns to be made here in the US, but not a total deal breaker.

It will be a while before the Mrs will understand another carry gun.

I have convinced her I NEED a Ruger Gp100 with the 6 inch barrel. I just got a new piece of drum equipment , so that is kind of enough....
