  • 12 Gauge love

I almost bought a Saiga 12, but decided to buy this instead and save a ton of money. I'm going to put a Knoxx recoil reducing adjustable stock on it. I fired one round through it with the pistol grip. That hurt! :86:

I really liked the idea of a magazine fed shotgun, but the extra money to convert it to 922r compliance was a no-go.

Is that a 500 or a 590? I'd put a stock on it. I like the stock with a pistol grip but on the Mossberg with the safety on the tang, (Where it belongs) the pistol grip isn't really convenient.

I have a couple Mossbergs and they are great shotguns.

It has 500 stamped on it. The safety is on top...not down by the trigger. I think I prefer it on top like that.

Yeah I think the 590 had ghost ring sights on it. Somebody put a metal heat shield on that one that resembles the 590.
Both great guns and basically the same.

It's a new gun and came with the heat shield. It has a bead sight on it. It looks like it means business.

I have that same shotgun for my truck gun. I also have the tactical persuader that has the AR-type stock. They are great guns, and I have never had one malfunction with a Mossy in 30 years.

Melissa, if I may suggest an upgrade, replacing the plastic safety with a metal one is an easy and worthwhile upgrade as the plastic ones have been known to break. I ordered mine from Brownells. It's tricky backing out the one-way screw, but if you go to do it, make sure the shotgun is standing vertical on the buttstock, bear down with a flat screwdriver and it and the bearing and plate will come out easily without dropping down in the receiver.

Melissa, hubby and I have Mossberg 500 with the bead site. His is a 12 mine is a 20, because of back surgery. He has a phoenix ted adjustable, and recoil reducing stock.
We both like it, I just can't shoot more than a couple rounds out of the 12 without my back giving a lot of trouble. However, I can shoot the 20 all day without a problem. We picked up 200 rounds for $40 and had a lot of fun last weekend.
Shooting 3 gun comp. is what I dream about but probably would be too much for the old body.

Les I like your idea about upgrading the safety. I'm sorry to say that we had not thought
                  of that.

Have any of you checked out the 510 mini? I think it looks good in 20ga but have not seen one in the flesh.

I just picked up a 510 mini. Nice truck gun or home defense. Mine is 20 guage. Only draw back in my opinion is that it only holds 3 rounds plus one in the chamber for 4 total. The plus is that it very light and compact.
Melissa, you may want to consider a Butler Creek folding stock so you have both pistol grip or full stock. Picture is 500 model.

                        Nice Jeepster!

I already ordered a Knoxx adjustable stock. I really need a short stock.

I looked at a similar stock at Cabela's a couple weeks ago but the Knoxx looks better. Don't recall what brand I saw at Cabela's.

Did you order the set that comes with a forend also. Do let me know how you like it. I have a couple 500's and I think one might get this set up.
I know the safety on the tang is a downfall with a pistol grip but not a deal breaker.

I see Botach has them in stock for 110 bucks but I really don't care for those guys although they apparently have improved. One of the guys ordered an AR top end and it actually got shipped and he got it in less than a week.

I make it a practice to have someone call the day after I place an order to make sure they got the order, have the item and know to send it. Bad experiences in the past.

Remington 870. I'm just a bit more partial to the 870 but have absolutely no qualms about the 500.

Bawanna, I found my Knoxx at palmettostatearmory.com for $96. I don't think it comes with the foregrip. Botach is on my list along with cheaper than dirt.

                              AJBert, I've got a 20 gauge 870 that I really like.
