  • Remington rumors?

    Remington is supposed to reintroduce the R51, all new and improved, the next great carry 9mm?
    Remington bought out what was left of Rohrbaugh and is going to produce that pistol for pocket carry fans?

      It's a good thing for them to do, as far as their customers..................still doesn't interest me, on a firearm level. Looks interesting, just wouldn't want one. Too many 9mm choices out there.............

        Last year some of the guys on the 1911 forum said Remington replaced their lemon R51s with new R1 1911s. I'd be down for that swap.

          Interesting they're sticking with it despite the PR disaster. They must really believe that idea and design. Risky.
          Rest in peace Muggsy

              I'm one that got a R1 as a replacement for a R51 and when it came in it was traded toward another make right away . NO more freedom group/remington outdoors products coming to my home . Quality has slipped to far for me to mess with again . Now they selling whats always been a over price 380 just with there name on it and the rehashed r51 that may or may not get released to market one day . Still release date on it . Besides at 22oz for a single stack you have to many other choices out there all lighter .

                Maybe they'll get it right this time. Hope so. I was attracted to their "easy to rack" claim. I guess it might get back on my radar if it ever gets released and proves reliable.

                  You are probably right hardluk1. I guess it's no surprise that Freedom Group cannot maintain Remington quality. Too bad.

                    I see there is no recall, but anyone with a first production can change their R51 for a new production. Hmmm.

                    Personally, I'd love to see it in .45, but that probably aint gonna happen.

                        I know they had trouble with the R51 and I've heard about Remington's other problems. (Heard it on the internet so it has to be true.) In spite of it all I bought one of their AR15's 2 years ago as a challenge to see if I could fix what was wrong with it. Haven't touched it. Top notch quality and not a single problem after many rounds. Hmmm????

                          Spend some time looking at the corporate layers of freedom group, not that should be Remington out doors that's owned by Cererbus capital investment and even a blind man can see why there are quality control issues with end all the firearm related companies . They have become to large and quality always suffers when that happens .

                          deadeye . With what ever company name you care to use owns DPMS and Bushmaster if they can't manage to build a functional re-badged AR15 they should be out of business. After all its not like its hard to build a AR at home from a box of mixed manufactured parts and have a reliable AR firearm .
                          ]
                          I have no doubt people will still buy cererbus, freedom, remmy outdoors own products . I just won't be in that group any. My only other remmy I own is a 1976 788 rifle I bought new .

                            Yep, they sure will. I saw on the news the other day that Remington had an excellent sales year. Colt went bankrupt for the second time in two years. Life is sure puzzling isn't it. And yes I will be a repeat customer. But, then again, Kahr catches a lot of hell on the internet. I love 'em. I guess that makes me part of the uneducated, uninformed masses.

                              Not always. Even the biggest company can have a real commitment to quality. Apple might be the biggest corporation in the world now yet my Apple products are probably the highest quality electronics I own. But I take your point about Remington.
