I always do my homework and am totally aware of Freedom Group and Cerberus Capitol Investment. I am not concerned with a company's size or their management structure. I am concerned that I get quality when I spend my hard earned money and that is what I got. My CM9 is quality and so is my DPMS. They have both performed flawlessly for a number of years. If some haven't, I am sorry for them but I make my own opinions. By the way. Do you own any General Electric equipment? Ford? GM? Microsoft? Apple? Most of us do whether we like it or not.

        Update!----
It seems the branding death march continues at Freedom Group, as more and more of the smaller brands under the Remington umbrella are killed off and merged with Big Green proper. The latest casualty is Para USA, a 1911 handgun manufacturer known for competition handguns and good quality products. In a press release this morning, Remington announced that Para USA will no longer exist as a separate brand, and their products will be sold under the amalgamated Remington branding instead."

well, there goes that double stack fantasy.

hate to hear that about Para. I owned a Para carry 9 and loived the trigger system, b ut the gun was not reliable, 3 trips b ack to Para with no luck and then the finish just started to flake off,. I hated it as I really wante dfto cuddle up to that 1911 style double action but NO DICE

Mark my words KAHR will come out with a double stack sooner than later..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I'm sorry to hear that as well. I have 3 Para's and love them all, never an issue.

Para really has dropped the ball the last decade or so. Got away from stainless and had funny colored guns with lousy finish.

They had a good product and they went to change things around and down the toilet it went. I'm told you can't get parts hardly anymore and the product line shrank considerable.

Doubt Remington will do anything with them, I do like the LDA trigger system but even Para kind of left that behind of late too.

If it is one of the 3.5 inch single stack, Companion Carry 7.45 I believe, I'll work out a deal on the grips if the gun doesn't come back. I have one just like the Colonel's. I really like that gun. They put new night sights on it for free last year. It came back, at least the slide did anyway.

I should have a different set of grips for you in a week or so anyway!

Armscor (Rock Island) started making some of Para's GI models several years ago. 2011 I believe it was. I wonder if they got rights to Para's doublestack somehow? It could be be their own thing though I guess. I think I might want one.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

It annoyed me considerably when Springfield Armory dropped their GI 1911 line, which included a double stack .45ACP. Wouldn't mind havin' one of those to play with.

Read where Remington has moved their R1 production to the new Birmingham, Alabama factory. The NY made R1 I bought last Fall was pretty good quality for a "low end" 1911, so hopefully the new ones will at least equal them. I'd consider getting one for myself (gifted the first one to my landman in North Dakota).

from what I can find out, so far, the Armscor (RI) and the Para use the same Mec-Gar mag. it's just a fat handled 1911, everything else same. I'm looking at the cheap one, additional parts would come latter. Armscor uses late model cnc machines and they cast the lower and machine the upper, everything inside is mim, so even thou it looks like an old black 1911, ya got to believe in technology.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCfUd7ZEOjg the trigger and hammer on my mdl.36 S&W seem to be holding up.

NO more freedom group/remington outdoors products coming to my home . Quality has slipped to far for me to mess with again . Now they selling whats always been a over price 380 just with there name on it and the rehashed r51 that may or may not get released to market one day . Still release date on it . Besides at 22oz for a single stack you have to many other choices out there all lighter .
Absolutely nothing wrong with the R1. Excellent 1911.
