Congrats on the Father's Day present!!!!Originally posted by RonW View PostJust treated myself to a new Ruger 10/22 today for father's day
Absolutely!! I'm a big fan of the Brownings and you have two really nice examples. I especially like your 5.5 Field. It's the model I keep my eye out for at the local shops and shows. One of the first BMs I bought was a used Varmint model that had the same walnut grips as your 5.5. I foolishly traded that gun away. I say foolishly because the Varmint model had an adjustable sear and that model can be hard to find. I did keep the grips and have them on another BM.Originally posted by ripley16 View PostIs a good target gun a plinker? If so, here's a nice Buckmark Field 5.5 I found a while ago. I was literally stunned at how good this pistol shot. A "best buy" if ever I found one.

As a fun "plinker" type compliment to the target model Browning, I came across this nickle Buckmark micro at a gun show. The seller said "make me an offer." I said "$250.00". It's been a lot of fun. Certainly worth the money.

Here's the Varmint that I traded away:

The BM those grips are on:

I'd by Buck Marks all day at $250 a pop.

Greg
BTW, on the off chance you don't know already, the Buck Mark trigger can (in most cases) be significantly improved by flipping the sear spring legs around. If you search "Heggis flip" you'll turn up quite a bit of info on it. I've done it on the 4 GMs I have; two had significant improvement, one so-so, and one the hammer wouldn't reset.
P.S. The more I look at that Micro, the more I'm inclined to go Barth and buy a Micro barrel for one of my BMs

Here's my new S&W M&P 15-22. Dressed up with Magpul furniture and sporting a Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot, that co-witnesses with the factory Magpul BUIS. This gun is a blast to shoot, and I can shoot 2" groups at 100yds. with the Red Dot all day, which is pretty good for my aging eyes...
