  • The Growing Police State

The Mitchell families were clearly violated in their rights. I hope they take the city of Henderson for every last cent.

    The Growing Police State

I have become more and more concerned about the growing police (at every level) abuse of the citizenry throughout the country at large. News reports like this crop up almost daily on the internet blogs but rarely if ever make it on the lame stream media or even Fox.

Where does it stop? When a citizen says no to a police "request" it mean no! Go get a warrant if you can and come back.

You hear a lot of false bravado remarks about how someone is going to bar his door with his gun...good luck with that. Have your will and other paperwork up to date because your surviving relatives will need them.

I think these abusive police depts. and individuals need to be charged with crimes where appropriate and sued into bankruptcy to stop this cr*p.

    Here's the article link: http://ricochet.com/main-feed/Violat...comment-748920

One of the comments below the article:

Daniel Frank Last night my daughter was celebrating the Fourth at a beach in New York City. She was standing around with a cup of (non-alcoholic) lemonade, when she and her friends were approached by police, who cited her and all her friends for open container violations. When she protested, one policeman explained that the police department had called in a large number of off-duty officers and instructed them to go out and issue open container citations. He said that if she went to court he would testify that she did not have an alcoholic beverage.
My daughter's boyfriend was called out of the water (without a beverage) to produce an ID. When he asked why he had to produce an ID to swim, he was handcuffed and arrested. When my daughter tried to get her wallet out of his backpack, the police shoved her. In general, the police were rude and aggressive, and clearly on a mission to harass, intimidate, and extort those celebrating our so-called independence.
Maybe anyone who celebrates our Founding now is considered a Tea Partier, fair game to be targeted by our "public servants."

DK...I just posted this in the General Discussion Area before coming here and seeing your post. I'll leave my post up for better coverage or perhaps the moderator can move it here.

I am very concerned with this creeping police state.

There is also "sovereign immunity", which along with government's deep pockets (tax authority) and full time lawyers, makes it quite futile. We are so screwed as a nation.

Her are a couple of newsflashes. You cannot sue city hall. The Third Amendment about quartering soldiers does not apply to local LEO agencies as they do not meet the amendments definition of "soldiers".

I totally disagree with the way the PD agency allegedly handled the situation. IF THE ARTICLE IS TRUE. Anybody with 2 or more living brains cells should automatically disbelieve 80% of what is printed in so called newspapers. If you do not have audio/video you got nothing.

If the article is true the PD acted badly. However putting your complete faith in any news agency to tell the truth is a fools errand.

I used to have very positive views and interactions with police officers. Now they seem to be more militarized , this includes calling non-officers civilians. Protect and serve has been replaced by intimidate and control. Government muscle and being an armed elite seems more accurate now.

I know there are many fine officers serving us but I try to avoid any cotact with any of them.

I called them to pick up a stray cat when animal control was closed and it was way too tactical of an encounter for me.

Perhaps not in this case but in several other cases you can in fact sue.

Many cities including our own have been sued for untimely public records request, we were sued for planning violations regarding an upcoming Walmart as are all cities, in our case the city won which is also usually the case.
I would never consider suing anyone or anything myself but it can be done.

Otherwise I totally agree, this was bad acting by the PD, very bad indeed and I think the homeowner deserves something out of the deal. They pepper shot his dog, somebody needs to pay for that.

Don't ask me how the heck I did it, but somehow I managed to merge these two similar threads. I'm not sure I could do it again if my life depended on it but somehow it worked.
I guess that's all that really matters but I sometimes think computers are taking over the world.

For miniscule issues like planning and zoning lawsuits in my citt and area are successful only about 1% of the time. In my career lawsuits against the PD's are successful in less than 1%.

In general the "G" agencies make it so problematic and difficult that they can wait out the plantiffs bar. As a taxpayer I applaud the efforts to win at any cost to prevent my tax dollars going to what are 99% of the time scofflaws.

The city where I live has a written policy to deny every claim against the city no matter how small or large. It forces the citizen to get an attorney and sue. Most cause for actions are not worth it to the legal system to pursue so the city pretty much wins 99.9% of the time by default.

But violent crime is way down from 20 years ago, and started to go down before the police became militarized. With this kind of policing, there should be no gangs left in America.

Coulda...Woulda...Shoulda. Violent crime is in general down but there are havens where it is up substantially. Generally big cities under long term DemoNazi control. Part of the problem is the 24 hour newscycle and the fact that small local events get national media play. Since the media is beyond doubt liberal left they use the events to aggrandize there aganda.

It is all about perception. Reality is out the window.
