Muggsy, Most of reliable internet news sites covered it. You get more real news from the internet, than the crap they feed you on CNN and the like.
But take your best shots, they don't bother me, I just consider the source.

So let me get this straight... You are basing your view of 1.2 billion Catholics on the experience of a relative?

Don't get me wrong. I am not defending the Catholic Church, nor the bad things that men do. I like this Pope. I would like to see him divest the church of all its gold, silver, and expensive clothing and get back to doing God's work in their own misguided way.

My experiences do not come from relatives, just people I know. Call it a duty(which sucks). Call it what you will, their hands should stay out of your pockets, and out of the pockets of people who want to attend a church, but not be penalized for not having loads of money, to do their "duty".

The church only asks ten percent. What percentage does your government demand under threat of force. Seems to me the Church isn't all that bad.

Many news sources take quotes out of context and twist words. I haven't heard the Pope say anything of the kind. But then of course only you can separate the wheat from the chaff, Tman. I guess that I should bow to your expertise. You seem to know it all.

I do wish that each of you would take your bone out in the back yard and bury it.

There seems to be a very unnecessary bitter rivalry happening here.

Go to a neutral corner and stay there, take your meds, get drunk, I don't care, whatever it takes.

No reason for, nor will any personal feuds be allowed to continue.

If you believe that the Holy Bible is the written Word of God then Malachi Chapter 3 verses 8-10 say that God himself commands that his people tithe to His House.....

Verse 8 "Will a man rob God?...Yet you rob me...But you ask, how do we rob you?....In tithes and offerings...
Verse 9 You are under a curse, the whole nation of you because you are robbing me....
Verse 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse so that there will be food in My House....Test Me in this says the Lord God Almighty and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven upon you and pour out so much blessing that you will not have enough room for it....

I like the new Pope and it seems many others do as well....I'm not a Catholic but a Methodist so what I think about the Pope doesn't matter but if God says to do something then I firmly believe it's in my best interest to listen to what he says and DO IT....

I don't know about your area, but here, they ask for between 20% and 30%. Sounds about the same to me.

Our diocese asks for whatever we can give. They don't make us commit to any fixed amount. To get in - parish school tuition rates we must attend mass twice a month as proven by the pre printed envelopes we put in the collection basket. Peroid. Even if the envelopes are empty.

In a half century of being Catholic I've never experienced any of the things non - Catholics claim define us.

Reading is fundamental..................no one said anything about defining "you". It's the church that's being discussed.

There are those among us who would tear down our religion and the moral values upon which our nation was founded for their own personal gain. Do not in any way assist them whether intentionally or through ignorance.

So you want all the advantages of a church and it's community, but don't want to do anything to support it? Huh.... Imagine that.

Sorry Bawana. Some people just like to be rude.
