Sorry Bawana. Some people just like to be rude.

The Catholic Church has a vast fortune at it's disposal, yet they don't hesitate to ask for more. I'd rather give my offerings to something like the Salvation Army, who gets the lions share of the donations to those in need. Or to personally help out people in need. The SA has very low overhead compared to most other charities, where much of your donations are spent on overhead. I quit giving to the United Way here, when I found out the local head was given a brand new luxuriously equipped Volvo to drive around. I don't see why she needs such a fancy car, when something like a big Chevy would do at half the cost. Plus the fact they bought a foreign car kind of ticked me off too.
I don't donate so people can get paid a half million a year salary like the Red Cross, I would donate blood, but not money. Or those charities that spend most of your money on overhead. It's pretty easy to find out which charities get your money to those in need. Like the March of Dimes, is appropriately named as all but about a dime is eaten up in overhead.
I don't think God needs our money, but churches do have salaries and bills to pay, so when I was going to church, I did place money in the offering dish. But it wasn't a Catholic Church with Gold plated statues, and all the trimmings that seem to be a part of most Catholic Churches. I quit going to Church a few years ago, preferring to read the bible and follow it's teachings on my own, and doing research on what some confusing passages really mean.
My OP was just to show an example of how Pope Francis is to me kind of going beyond his duties as pope: trying to change politics, by saying that we should accept all immigrants with open arms and that turning away immigrants is the same as turning away Joseph and Mary from the Inn, and some other things he said, that didn't sit well with me. I was kind of disappointed that he didn't address the big scandal of the church, maybe letting priests marry might put a halt to or at least slow down the pedophilia that they've been covering up for so long. And I'm not real keen on a woman priest, or a woman pope, not that I am anti woman or anything. I've had two women pastors, and there is just something about them that I don't really care for. Maybe it's just that I'm used to male pastors or something, and women tend to look at things differently than men, as any married man can attest too.

He does seem to be a humble sort of person, I think that strikes a chord with a lot of people, and he seems to really care about people. I don't think he is all that bad of a person, I guess we'll have to see how things go down the line.

Apparently you didn't read the link in my last post. Your initial posted is the liberal interpretation of what the Pope said, not what the Pope actually said. The Pope hasn't changed church doctrine one iota. Priests still can't marry. Acts of homosexuality are still considered sin. Women still can't serve as Priests.
