Making a judgment from a one sided judgmental story seems to be just as much a tragedy.

you cant apply logic and reason to a highly emotional one sided report.

FOIA, body-cams, rat-packs, dash video/audio... all from three officers. the internal affairs will be open records as well ten days after its closed.

so if you're expecting a hand delivered sermon, no. but if you apply with the basic forms, yes.

I would have gave the cops side of the story, but as mentioned previously, we will never hear it.
I'd been kind of pissed if I was one of the other two cops that had the kid on the floor, and some jerk walks in and shoots at a target that I am on top of.
"Cops doing there job is hard to sensationalize" A cop walks in and just shoots the kid and says "we don't have time for this". So that's how cops do their jobs nowadays? How about next time you get caught for speeding the cop just shoots you because he doesn't have time for this - to write a ticket.

I could maybe see this as being ok, if the kid was some 250lb linebacker or something and was putting up a struggle, but the other two had this 90lb kid tased on the floor, and this 3rd cop walks in and just shoots him. How in the hell is that "a cops job"????

All that we have is the word of the parent. Are you going to hang this officer before all of the facts in the case are presented. The officer is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It's just possible that he prevented a fellow officer from becoming impaled by a screwdriver. You seem to take at face value anything presented by the media. It ain't always so. I'll wait until all of the facts are in.

All our thoughts and discussion make little difference. I hope that justice will prevail and if the cop screwed up, and they do screw up from time to time that he's handled appropriately. If he didn't I hope he does ok dealing with the aftermath.

Sometimes bad decisions are made. I have a local story that I'll share later when I have more time. Back to the sweat shop.

"I'll be waiting until the facts are in" I doubt it, I think the facts are in. You want the cops side of he story, you already know it "I was afraid for my life, or the life of officer X and I fired my weapon". Cop gets slap on wrist, paid suspension, then back on duty in a couple weeks. You'll file this away as a justified shooting, and forget about it.
It's a pretty sad day, when you can't call for help with an unruly mentally disturbed teenager without having him end up dead.

BTW, here is a short list of officers convicted of killing people. Most received pretty light sentences, except the last one that was convicted of taking part in a drive by shooting. Doesn't have anything to do with this case, just wanted to show you that sometimes they don't get off clear off the hook and some do pay for their crimes.
There are a lot more listed. I didn't want to spend much time on it so I grabbed just a few.

Based on what I read I agree, I think it was a bad shoot. That being said and having the powers bestowed upon me, I think we've chewed this bone down to the marrow.
